Honda 2000 generators in parallel questions....

A question for Forum members using a pair of the Honda 2000's....can the auto idle "ECO" switches be turned ON while powering the coach and running the AC? Or, do you run one generator with the switch ON and the other OFF?

I have one Honda 2000 now and will be getting a second one (companion) next season. Our 5er has one AC.

Would appreciate any comments you may have about your 2000's.

I only have one but I believe the Honda literature says they both need to be set the same, they should both have ECO on or off.

If running both in eco mode, you might get just enough delay in amperage so that the A/C surge while starting up will trip the Honda breakers. Better to keep them both with eco off when running A/C.

I think they run just fine in Eco mode. Being that the fan powers up first it will take the pair out of idle.

It's been a long time since I have used my pair for ac so not hold me to it.

Honda 2000 generators in parallel questions....

I kept both of mine in Eco mode for everything. Never had any issues with the AC. I would power the generators and let them warm up a little bit before you put a load on them though.

Keeping them in Eco mode will allow them to idle back more when your AC is cycling off as well.

I have run mine in eco mode all summer camping. Seems to work ok, very good on gas.

I have two of the 2000 watts connected in parallel. I called the honda headquarters in Georgia and they stated that the generators were not to be set in Eco stage while running your unit, especially with the air conditioning. They possibly could be set in Eco without the air, but they do not recommend that. Too much hesitation if in Eco and the air comes on.

I noticed when in the eco mode and the a/c compressor cycled back on there was a power dip almost like the unit came to a stop and then came up to speed. I checked amperage with my amprobe and did not see a large spike so I contingued to run in eco mode because its just above an idle verses 2 gens wide open.
