Just another front cap faded 2014 Cedar Creek

I have read so many caps fading on CK within a short amount of time. We bought ours in 2014 and have the same problem.

Call your dealer and get it fix. Our dealer painted ours. No cost. This is a known issue and it should be repaired by FR. Good Luck!

Do you have the 2nd year warranty? On a 2014 you may have a problem. My last two Cedar Creek have had front cap fade

Mine is a 15 and the cap faded at 10 months. Cedar Creek is going to replace the cap but I have to take camper back to factory

Paint...

Ours faded just from sitting on the lot waiting to be sold...and it's a 2016! Dealer (Camping World) is going to strip and paint it for no cost under warranty. I'm hearing that's a better and more cost effective fix (for the dealer).

If warranty doesn't cover your cap fading, look into a body shop clear coating it for you. While the paint may be faded, once the cap is scuffed and clear coated it will shine like new money. FR could eliminate cap fading if they cleared them before installation. As they are, I imagine they shoot them with a single stage enamel and hang them on the trailer. Is it just me, or do the manufacturers have the approach of just get them out the door and we'll worry about what may be wrong with the unit down the road? It would seem just a tad more quality control during the building process could offset a ton of potential warranty issues after the fact.

Our 2012 Sterling Wildcat which is gray all over also faded sitting on the dealer lot. After arguing with FR for months, they finally had another dealer 'recolor' the cap. I believe all they did was remove the oxidation and wax. 6 weeks later the fading was worse than original.

I gave up on FR ever fixing or even admitting to the problem. Now the entire RV is faded. It doesn't matter how many times a year we de-oxidize and wax, 6 weeks later it is faded again. We have tried every product out there and have had several professionals try their hand at it.

We have thought about having the whole RV painted, but that is not only expensive, it has it's own set of problems from what I have learned talking to other folks who went that route.

We are now waiting to buy another RV (probably full body paint) until we have a place to store it out of the sunshine. I refuse to use the covers that are expensive, cumbersome, and only last 2 years max in the southwest sun.

I have noticed they don't make many RVs with this gray color anymore

I do agree that RV manufactures aren't doing anything to prevent this and I don't understand why not.

Mine is clear coated but I also clean and wax with uv protector about every 3 - 4 months. Three years old looks like it just came off the lot.

Had same issue.
Back in November 2015.
Dealer called forest river said they will not cover it due to it being past 1 year warranty. But will replace if I drive it back at my expense.
Had extended paint warranty though a 3 party seller that camping world sold to me.
Warranty says they will only buff only.
Went on until April 2016 back and forth.
Found paperwork on 3 party seller and it stated will cover paint damage.
Called warranty stated I paid this amount for you crap warranty and you won't fix...they were shocked they stated they will pay up to $600 for repairs...
Stated no you will fix all at your expense still would not budge.
Call my dealer camping world and sent them a letter in writing....
Stated to them in writing you will fix properly and paint and buff like new or
Refund my full cost of my paint warranty that you sold me which you 3rd party won't cover and you sold me a warranty that you won't stand by.
24 hours later got phone call bring camper in--we will paint the front camp and no charge to you...
Got camper back last weekend from body shop---cap is nice and shiny and looks brand new....
Even climb up on top and double check to see if they did the work correct.
Happy camper now

My 15 32RL Cedar Creek started off just a little on the top but now it's down in the face. I'll post a picture when it stops raining

Ours is on the top but I'm sure it will travel. Left a message for Mr Sears at CC but per usual no call back!

They usually start up top and then work there way down. I was on top of mine in July and nothing, August it was small amount up top, and by september it was like cancer and all over. I know one thing when it starts and grows quick.

So, just to make sure I'm understanding. Some of you have painted caps and it is still fading? Do they not use clear coat?

I can see fiberglass gel coats like mine fading.. but painted, I just don't get. You would think after all the $$$ we spend FR would come up with a solution to prevent this in the first place. Just my 2 cents
