"leather" furniture in my 2013 Cottage by Cedar Creek

I really doubt that I am the only one experiencing this problem - but I may be: our cottage has 2 "leather" recliners and a "leather" sofa that are experiencing severe delamination of the surface areas. The sofa is really bad. When you sit or lie on the sofa you find small pieces of this black on one side brown on the other - pieces on your clothes or in your hair. If the sofa is truly "leather" it must be painted on. We are beyond our warranty which was 1 plus a purchased 2nd year. On the tags found on the bottoms and out of site reads 21 and 23% "leather". Forest River's response to my inquiry was the warranty has expired - talk to the furniture makers. Like that will work - 1 owner calling Lazy Boy. The purpose of this is to see if anyone else has experienced this "leather'. Without a solution I have to figure out a solution to get them out and get replacement non "leather" furniture in. Forest River has been really good up until this situation. On a side note has anyone put fabric slip covers over "leather"?

I have a chair at my house that's doing that. I'm thinking just throw it away and get another. You could get the chairs recovered, but getting them out of camper might've a problem

Our recliners are also suffering the same fate.....Talked to Lazy Boy and they said best to buy new ones or have these recovered with real leather or fabric. Cheap junk made for RV's.....

These are bonded leather. Lowest quality. Personally I'd just put a slip cover on them. To get them out if that's what you decide. The backs separate from the seats.

There was just other members talking about the same issue with "Pleather" chairs and sofas! The furniture MFG sent them covers but the members had to pay for install! Not LBS but still a RV furniture supplier! Do a Search! Youroo! !

Bingo! It is happening to a lot of furniture, not just the RV stuff. Friends have a sofa that did the same thing. Give me good old Naugahyde!

Do you realize how many "Naugus" it takes to cover a sofa? They are real small little suckers! Only takes a 6" high fence to raise them! Youroo! !

Yup plan to raise them and chinchillas to fund my retirement...

I figure the Naugas are ugly enough that the coyotes will leave them alone!

Naughahyde was made at the Erie Industrial Park about two miles from our house here in Ohio - every kid had a Naugie or two 👍🏻

Ultra Leatherette

Sorry for your furniture headaches. I, too, have major deterioration of my furniture. Even my captain's chairs. I'm a full timer, no pets. My furniture looks horrendous. Went to factory this summer and was told they would do nothing. I bought my Berkshire new in 2012. Just received my 1st re-upholstery estimate. $6800. Makes me sick, but have no choice. Just gonna bite the bullet. Good luck. My captain's chairs are Flexsteel.

You should be able to expect your upholstery to hold up a little longer than 3 or 4 years? It may come from a supplier but that supplier was chosen.

Add us to the list. Our "leather" recliners and sofa started to go at 2 1/2 years! Pure junk!

If you're under 50, you've probably never heard this.

"My chair is upholstered in real Naugahyde;
When they killed that nauga, I sat down and cried.
(He moved to Chicago when that nauga died!)"

I think naugahs are now a protected species.

You get what you pay for> Camping world will be your friend for replacement.

PS Check the label for authenticity or Lazy Boy

Well in the end and after 2 months of back and forth Lady Days Forest River Berkshire Hathaway Lazy Boy Furniture did nothing for us. 2 months in they offered $125 discount at the Lazy Boy store but we had already purchased new. I just cannot understand how they can call this leather. Evidently the "leather" is sprayed on a fabric as it moves down the belt. I would be surprised if there isn't a Class Action out there somewhere against the perpetrators.
