led ceiling light(s) fail

These LED lights are life time warranted or thats what we were told when we purchased our Silverback. one LED is out in the bedroom, with another starting to blink once in a while.

Do we replace these ourselves and file a claim? Not sure how these warranty work. the dealer is nearly 1 1/2 hr drive so it would probably cost us more to take our trailer there than have the LED fixed.

Also wondered if we could get a mobile tech to come to the CG and fix it and then they bill whoever it is for the warranty?

thank you.

I would replace them myself and forget the dealer and warranty. They are not that expensive or difficult to change.

ok, I looked at the enclosure and do you just pop it out? I don't see any lever or something to help pop out the plastic covering?

I just called Cedar Creek, they sent me a new one. Installation is a no brainer.

Have you attempted to remove the light fixtures and check the wiring? I had a couple of lights go out and it turned out to be poor workmanship crimping the wires together.

Good luck,
Don

I've actually had a couple of mine vibrate loose and fall down into the translucent light cover. Just pop that cover off...plug it it...replace the cover and you're done. We've had ours for almost 3 years and this has happened twice...never had any LED bulbs burn out.

Easy changes - Phillips head screwdriver and wire cutter/crimper.

1. pop cover off
2. remove 3 screws
3. cut wires
4. strip ends and use crimp to connect

push it back in and screw it in and cap.

Replaced one already - cedar creek sent it in the mail

ok, I removed the light cover, removed the 3 screws, and it is not a light bulb but a circuit board which is soldered at the ends of 2 wires both black. as I have never soldered, does anyone know if I call FR that I can get a mobile RV tech and the warranty will cover it? also I did jiggle the board about, one had about 1/2 the lights lit and the others were out. as I know have 3 of 4 lights out in bedroom. thanks for advice.

Take a couple photos of the light with cover removed and post here.
Maybe we can offer better/more relevant advice.

I'm thinking they can be replaced without soldering! There are things called
wire nuts that will work fine for small low power items like LED lights!

Post a couple photos and we'll talk!

The replacement that I received had two butt connectors - cut old light off, strip ends of the wires and then crimp the connectors to join the wires. Maybe 3 minutes to complete one light.

that's the type of light I have that is out currently at 3 1/2. the 1/2 is one in the kitchen which comes on if it feels like it. I didn't know how to post pic here. it is connected by two wires coming from the top.

I opened all covers that were out and the led's are all out on the circuit board. I haven't found out yet how to replace them, went to CW and they didn't have that type board. The dealer is like 2 1/2 hr drive from here and would be a lot to take my SB there just to replace 3 lights.

hope someone knows ans to this.

Just contact Forest River - they will replace the whole module white cover and all - with 2 wires coming out of the back - just cut the old one out and wire crimp/tie into the existing wires. These are supposed to have a "life time warranty'...

Our led over the heSd of the bead would go out every time we arrived somewhere! Low and behold our rv service man found when the slide would go in or out it pinched the wire and shorted it out. They fixed it and we haven't had a problem since!!

hmm wonder if thats what happened to us? couldnt find out who at FR to call for the led problem as their website says to call the dealer. so we are looking when we can take time off to take our 5th wheel to the dealer as its about 2 hr drive, and see how long it will take them to fix, hopefully it will be one day so we can leave same day.
