Leveler Reliability Question

Here's one for the greater minds that I know are out there...
My 36CKTS (I love it!) is sitting in the yard parking place...we're between trips. The question is: Having used the autoleveling system (I love it!) in the yard...is there any issue due to just having it parked there for sustained periods. I mean should I be doing something else to keep it properly maintained while "sitting" extended, etc. I don't want to abuse the system and want to make sure I'm not doing so. Thanks!

The manual sez to spray the exposed legs with silicone spray weekly. Since mine sits for 7 months (with us in it), I use blocks to minimize the exposed rams and spray them weekly as recommended. No pitting or rust here.

Ours sits all winter - blocks to minimize exposure and the spray once a week...

I asked a tech the same question. He said to use WD-40 to prevent surface rust on the cylinders. Also the slide mechanism bars and use a silicone grease on the gears and racks.

Your "Tech" may not be as correct as he/she needs to be. WD-40 may not be compatible with the seals or the transmission fluid if it makes it past the seal. WD-40 also has other properties that
could cause damage due to their nature over time.

As for the slideouts I quote from Lippert: "The Lippert Hydraulic Slideout System has been static tested to over 4,000 continuous cycles with out any noticeable wear to rotating or sliding parts. It is recommended that when operating in harsh environments (road salt, ice build up, etc.) the moving parts be kept clean and can be washed with mild soap and water. No grease or lubrication is necessary and in some situations may be detrimental to the environment and long term dependability of the system."

Bottom line is unless your "tech" is smarter than the engineers that made this stuff, one might consider sticking to what the folks that design this stuff recommend.
Of course, if one is going to ignore good counsel and go rogue on the subject, why not use cosmoline?

I don't mean for this response to be short, it's just how I write. I used to consider tonal quality but gave it up when I retired.

Here is Lipperts Maint. for their Jacks:

1. Change fluid in RESERVOIR ONLY every 36 months.
a) Check fluid only when jacks are fully retracted.
b) Always fill the reservoir with the jacks in the fully retracted position. Filling reservoir when jacks are extended will cause
reservoir to overflow into its compartment when jacks are retracted.
c) When checking fluid level, fluid should be within ¼” of fill spout lip.
2. Check the fluid level every month.
3. Inspect and clean all Pump Unit electrical connections every 12 months. If corrosion is evident, spray unit with WD-40 or equivalent
4. Remove dirt and road debris from jacks as needed.

WARNING!
Your coach should be supported at both front and rear axles with jack stands before working underneath.
Failure to do so may result in personal injury or death.

5. If jacks are down for extended periods, it is recommended to spray
exposed leveling jack rods with a silicone lubricant every seven days for
protection.

If your coach is located in a salty environment, it is
recommended to spray the rods every 2 to 3 days.

Excellent conclusion Bill. However, there is no such thing as a "winner"or loser when it comes to sharing experience(s) and knowledge among
folks with a common interest. It's just folks trying to be helpful.

Bill, thanks for the compliment. I never considered myself a "winner" on the forum. I try to help folks anyway I can, when I can. I have been given excellent advise on questions I have asked. I have learned more from the forums than from the manufacturer....a lot more.
