Lights over table issues

HAve a 2016 31RK which has or should I say had 2 hanging LED lights. the last trip back from dealer for some very, minor warranty work opened the slide outs and when I walked back to rear I found that one of the lights had broken the
metal support and hit something else (unknown at this time still looking) and shattered the globe and hit table top scarring it as well. My concern is that these lights really sway just from normal foot traffic I can just imagine what they go through down the road. Very cheesy thin metal mount which explains a quick fatigue of the metal. Has anyone else out there had a similar issue and if so what did they do to fix or replace the existing for something that won't swing in the breeze per say. Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the input. Had not thought of the lights swinging around. With that, what about the trailers that have ceiling fans???? Anyone had a problem there? How would you secure the lights or fans while going?

All the RV ceiling fans I've seen have been solidly mounted flush to the ceiling and there's no ability to sway. The pendent lights usually have a thumbscrew to lock the rod at the pivot in the ceiling bracket (mine do and they were not vertical from the factory)... maybe yours loosened?

Hanging light issue

Yes they both have tumb screws and both are tight it actually broke right above the swivel mount where there is a half joint of metal. So believe too much weight with too small a metal joint or poor metal or both.

Had same problem on our first trip from Nova Scotia to Florida!!!! One fell hitting the table....smashed all to pieces and glass embedded into top of table...Warranty replaced light and table.......

I installed the new light (dealer sent it down to Fl) and put some "locktight" on threads/nuts......Also now when we leave I put very stiff wood clamps over the nut/bolt assembly at ceiling and the lights do not swing any more in transit...Clamps can be purchased at any wood working/hardware store...The stiffer the better!!!!!!!.......J

Ours didn't swing

Ours didn't swing, but it hung down far enough I smacked my head on it a couple of times. We didn't buy our camper to impress our friends with it's elegant dining room, so we replaced it with one that matched the other lights (except this one was led). It is out of the way, no bumped heads, and puts out more light than our other fixtures. Love it. Optronics RV LED 12v Fixture Ceiling Camper Trailer Marine Double Dome Light V1 $15 on eBay.

Lights over table issues

We received our 2016 CC29RE in October and found a broken pendant hanging by the wires. Both globes and table top damaged. Glass everywhere. All items have been replaced by the dealer/FR. The globes are so heavy so we decided to change the globe to a lighter option. We also plan to put something in between them for support when traveling.

We installed a Tiffany lamp that I converted to a hanging lamp. which hangs below the storage cabinets above the rear picture window. I noticed that it would swing when pulling the 5er. To keep the lamp steady when in motion I used a stretchy net that has hooks along the outer edge the Tiffany Stained glass is in the middle and the net is stretched out tightly to hold it steady and hooked to cabinet handles and some small coffee cup hooks behind the lamp. It works well and when we get where we are going take the net down. You probably could use this method for your lights.

Kinda reminded me of this from a UK tv show (only Fools and Horses) back in the 80's.

I have to say the units in my coach seem fine, could swing but don't and as far as hitting my head on them i would really have to work at that.
I will look at them again but since 2010 are doing fine not to worried
Happy Camping to all

If you liked that, there are lots more of those nuggets on You Tube. This is another of my favorites.

2016 FR CC SB 33IK: Same issue on first drive home. Cheap pot metal stripped screw in threads on the light fixture allowing it to hang by the wiring and sway into other fixture. Broke globe and glass mess in carpet. Heading in for warranty work next Saturday. Also, Furnace will not light. So much for "Dealer Prep".....
