Pricing depends on multiple factors.
1) If dealer pre bought gas and locked in his cost
2) If dealer can get pre buy gas from his supplier (this has been an big issue)
3) If dealer has to buy on open market (spot mrkt) they are subject to current "rack" price.
For a while Conway Ks hit $5.00 per gal while Mt Belview Tx was $2 ish. Which forced a lot of dealers to pass on higher cost, allocate deliveries, refuse to service new customers etc

It has been a real PITA to be a lp dealer this year, but finally looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel, FERC the fed angency that oversees pipelines is forcing a major carrier to prioritise LP shipments to the midwest and northeast so hopefully this mess will clear up.

Long story short if you dont need gas wait, If you do ouch.

Regards

Basic law of economics: supply and demand! I bet folks will hedge against prices next year.

BJ's @ Auburn, MA - $4.27 gal Members/ $5.30 (I think) non-Members.

Glad my tanks were full when I put the rig to bed for the winter.

We are building a new home in the country, and only want like a 120 gallon tank....to be used for a gas cooktop only.....they are not even taking on new cost omers until spring, due to the shortage. They will care for current cost embers, but can't take a new one yet....

I have a 50 gallon tank for our gas logs. I was not using enough gas for the year and the gas company want to charge for the tanks. I told them to come and get the tanks. I then call South*#n S^@tes and purchased a tank from them. Now I can call 5 local gas companies and Purchased gas @ the best price

I was told that by the people I buy propane from that I would save money if I brought the tank. Well at first I did save money but as time went on and the price went up I saved less and less. Some places around here have to check out what you are useing the LP for and thats a charge. Then they want to see the bill of sale for the tank, I brought mine ten years ago and did not keep the sale paper, I had a homemade greenhouse and used about 300gl a year

So, 20 pound propane tanks are required to be checked at the 12 year point before they can be refilled. How, or do, they check larger tanks?

What about buried ones?

Sitting in Az with warm temps

But even with decreased propane use, the local place raised the price .20 a gallon because of shortages in other parts of the country.

$19.75 for a 20 here in East Tennessee. Not bad when your freezing in the camper. DW doesn't like to see her breath in the camper but I keep telling her it's snuggle weather.
