Maximum RV / rig length in RV Parks

Is there any standard that is used when an RV park states that the maximum rig length is xx feet? Does that count just the RV, or the RV and the tow vehicle (or toad if you have a Class A)?

The reason for this question is that I was looking at a state park in Florida that is located near where a friend of mine lives. It states that the 'maximum rv length 50 feet'. Will I be able to fit our CC 36RE (rv length = a touch over 40 feet) plus the TV in that park?

I know I could call that park to find out (assuming I could talk to someone who was knowledgeable), but this is something that comes up all the time.

Any ideas you have would be appreciated.

In general, general mind you, when they say RV length they don't include the TV or toad in that number. It's also subjective, one of my local state parks has sites for up to 40' units. Well if my TV was 10' long maybe. Luckily I have a lot of rear overhang and I dangle the back of the camper off the pad so I can cheat out some distance.

If I had to I'd park the truck at the office or parking area and walk to the camper but thus far it's not been an issue.

Too bad you can't call and get someone reliable. I called once because the photos didn't look like full hookups, got the sure they are, that photo just didn't show them.

Uh huh. A single 15A plug sunk into the ground, no water, no sewer, $35 a night. I told them I left my wallet at the gas station, dropped my trailer in the side lot and went CG shopping. Came back half an hour later, hooked up no WDH bars or sway, then took off ten miles up the road for a real CG.

I see this all over the board. There is no real standard and most seem to be a best guess as far as I can tell.

There are (NO) standards on,(info on length of campsites,where the E/W/S is located,Usable width of campsite,Tree limb height,width of roads/drives inside campground,will it Flood,ECT. You can Google,Giggle,Cuss,whatever,but a (Coin Toss) is just as effective most of the Time! Youroo!!

Parks like Gamle Rogers in Florida some of the sites say 20' and anything over that probably will not fit. So when they say the feet, I would count on that being the limit. The one at Little Manatee State park say I think 24' and it would be tight for 24'. We are only 20'.

There's no standard length but some parks will limit the size of the TT it can take, That does not include the TV.

I travel extensively and have found that most public parks give you the length of the pad. Some pads allow for overhang off the back, some do not. A great example of that is the Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado. There are some pads where the ramp is too steep to unhook if you are at max length. Others have a fence 2 feet behind the pad to keep you from visiting the folks 20 feet below!
Up in New England, you may fit in the spot but not under the trees. Same thing in the Maritimes.

In Destin, it is the length if the RV minus TV. Site max at state park beaches say 36ft. I have always found space sufficient for 36/37 ft 5er, triple slides, AND TV. HEED OTHERS EXPERIENCES. Services and sizes vary by area. St Augustine is tight! Florida reserves using RESERVE AMERICA. You can call them for clarification. Very few parks will have their staff comment.

My 36RE was only 39 feet, not counting the pickup. Yours must be bigger...just saying.

My lite is 30 foot and it just fit into the site we are at today TV is parked next to it.

All of the sites before this one could handle a larger trailer with no problem.

I use the closed length of my hybrid. I dont even include the tongue. I'll make it fit 21 feet here.

We dropped a plumb line over the nose and measured from there to the back of the ladder. I could see being a couple inches of doing that but not a foot and a half. Our manual/specs said 39 feet, but I wanted to verify that. Was surprised by the difference. I'll have to measure again when we get home.
