New 34IK

Hey everyone, just picked up our new CC 34 IK. Click image for larger version

Here’s a pic in rainy weather right before I stowed till next year[emoji22]. We ordered it and it came to the dealer a week before Thanksgiving.

The inspection went very well. It sits a little nose high so I may have it adjusted next year. The outside doors for the propane and for the battery compartment are very tight. But that was it, tech told me the inspection was basically nill. They had it very clean. We ordered it at Hatfield’s off RT 23 north of Delaware Ohio, [emoji106] thanks to them.

Forest River put a booth dinette in for us and it is beautiful. The table top is made from the same wood as the rest of the coach and it looked like a furniture company put it together. Plus it can be a bed for my grandkiddies.

I definitely have a lot to learn. Lots of technology. I had to drive it through a rain storm as my first tow for about 45 minutes. Truck is a 2018 Ram Cc 3500 SWB SB. Truck felt in charge of the trailer and it towed and stopped very easy.

Anyway, right now we are very pleased.

Thanks I’m a long time Forest River Fanboy. I’ve had 2 Rockwood pop ups, a Rockwood hybrid, and a Class C Sunseeker and now this Cedar Creek. They have all been nice campers. But this by far is the prettiest one I’ve ever owned. I hope it holds up well!

Congrats, we did the same thing last week. Drove it home in the rain and hated to put it away wet. You're right, almost too much technology but it should make travels more enjoyable.

Congratulations, that's a good looking rig! We picked up our Silverback 33IK in Ohio in October. Fortunately, we got it back to Georgia and managed to get in one trip in before winterizing it.

We like it a lot. Only problem we've encountered is that one latch on the battery compartment door does not protrude deep enough to engage. We have an appointment with Amish Family RV in May, and I'm sure that Orvan can take care of that for us as well as any other potential problems that he may find.

Can you give me Orvans number I probably should have mine inspected before next fall? I have the same problem though probably not as bad as you.

Thanks!

I believe Orvan's number is (260) 593-0951. When the machine answers, you hit option 1 to leave a message for the shop.

We were able to schedule a date in May to coincide with a trip to Michigan. We bought our trailer on October 17th, so wanted to have it checked out by Orvan while it is still under warranty.

Hey, that's a pretty nice rig all around, MikeRP, truck included! We did much the same thing, purchasing a used 35K just before our Canadian Thanksgiving so didn't get a chance to use it yet. But one nice way of passing a Canadian winter is planning our camping adventures for next year!

MikeRP - we have emailed each other, but I wasn't sure who you were. Well, this is the first time I've seen your setup....Very nice Mike!

I sure hope you like it....and yes, Old Bleu (Tim - I know him) has given you the correct info for Orvan.....we took our brand new 2019 34RL2 straight from the dealer in Cincinnati to Orvan.....we didn't know what was wrong since we hadn't spent any time in it....he still looked it over and found several things that would end up being problems in a few years....all work ($1000) was billed to the factory. He said it was one of the better built units.....which we passed along to the factory....since we know a few of those folks also and stopped in while at Orvan's. He's like 2 miles from the factory.

We just added disk brakes to our unit, but really haven't been able to take it out...she's covered for the winter.

Enjoy - safe travels,
Mike (Splashers3 on RV.Net)

Also looking at 34IK. Does anyone know what is in lower space to the right of the W/D hook-ups in the closet besides plumbing.

Also...We'd be installing washer only but looks like access to the space above the hookups would not be accessible.

That space is most likely for the optional Cadet Self-Regulating wall heater.

We have a Cedar Creek Hathaway 34RE. The front area appears the same.

As stated to the right of the washer is an area with nothing. Often the electric heater is installed there.

Looking at the left side of the closet there is some room behind the wall. I have thought about putting a matching door on the right side. .

Access to the top of the area would be a little limited by the washer. We store small items there. With a washer and dryer the access is very limited.

Although the washer dryer cuts down on closet space we do not mind. Frankly we carry little hanging stuff.

Wife dearly loves the washer and dryer. She likes going home after a trip with clean clothes.

For some reason, it bugs me have available space without access. Even though we probably won't need the storage, I'd still look for ways to get to it like adding a matching door as previously mentioned.

Does anybody know exactly what the differences are between the 34IK and 34RL2? I know the 34RL2 and 34IK are separated by some weight and very little length differences. Just trying to understand why CC would build two units that appear so similar except for what I mentioned. Have not been able to see either of them, nobody stocks much CC around here and have been to both Hershey and Tampa with no luck seeing them both to figure it out or ask the rep why? Trying to figure out why I would buy one over the other?

Also looking at 34IK and we prefer it to the 34RL2. From the bath forward, they are pretty much identical except for a few cosmetic differences...but for us we prefer the 34IK kitchen layout. Larger work areas on both sides of the stove and a small but useful to us, pantry. This was very obvious to us seeing it in person.

You might try checking out YouTube for several walk through videos, if you are not able to do a live visit. They helps us out a lot. Here are a couple:

But it is curious that CC would have 2 such similar floorplans. The 34 IK is a new floor plan just introduced last year, but the 34 RL2 is not that much older either, updating and ultimately replacing the similar 34 RL a few years ago.

I think CC intentionally keeps their floor plan choices to a minimum (especially compared to some other brands) probably to have fewer variables in the manufacturing process. It wouldn't surprise me to see the 34 RL2 go away in the future and replaced it with a more feature differentiated floorplan. I would personally like to see one in the 35'-36' range, but the way the higher end 5w's are going, it probably will be 45'

Thanks, the differences in the videos are so minor that it makes me think that CC is building both for the time being to see which kitchen sells better then drop the lesser selling one completely.

Yeah at first we were getting the 34rl2. But when I saw the 34IK at Couch’s in person, well that was it. I think the RL2 has a 55 inch tv versus 50 inch. But the workspace around the stove is the difference maker.

That + the kitchen window is what sold us too.
