Some older HDMI cables won't comply with the Audio Return Channel, even if TV is compatible.

Yes. The HDMI cable has to be above 1.3.

I have not had any trouble with mine to speak of. It has the Gen 1 on demand water heater and my wife and I love that once we figured out how to work it by turning the water on full until it warmed up. No more "Navy" showers. The grand kids spilled a coke in the original stereo and I replaced it with the Jensen JWM6A and love that too. The front Cap faded (of course) so I re did it with a Poli Glow Kit and that was easy and seems to be much more long lasting. Added a pin box extender so we could tow it with our 6'6" bed F250. Added 2nd A/C in bedroom but it was already wired for it and roof braced for the mount at factory.

Other than that we love it, roomy, comfortable and very nice. We know other owners that have had your same experience with all other brands so that seems to be an industry wide problem. We just lucked out I guess.

I wish we had lucked out, it was a pretty camper. I had garden view windows, a bedroom fireplace, level-up, dual pane windows and a 3D tv.

I also have the 2017 champagne 38el. Went through the same deal with my 60" Samsung and Jensen sound system. I had to buy an optic cable because for whatever reason the hdmi did not play the sound only high deff. Cost like 20 bucks but the downside to a samsung tv to a jensen speaker system is that they are not compatable like a samsung-samsung rig. So you have to use jensen remote for sound and your satelite/cable remote for tuning. Hard to go back to just tv sound so i use 2 remotes unless someone else knows better.

If that is the only way it will work (using 2 remotes), I would use an all in one remote such as a Logitech Harmony to control both.

It also will control receivers as well such as Comcast, Brighthouse, Fios, etc.

I think they also control Dish and Directv.

They have made my life easier.

Further review of the JWM9a manual shows it does not support HDMI ARC, but the JWM6 does. Which may explain why the Samsung TV doesn't have it.

By the way, why would you put a DVD only in anything made in 2016? Ever heard of BluRay?

They must have bought these back in 1998.......
