New Ram truck?

Is anyone on here getting a new Ram truck? I heard the company was going to buy back 500,000 trucks, mostly 2500 and 3500 trucks

Yep...

Gov't: Fiat Chrysler must offer to buy back 500,000 pickups - StarTribune.com

We are looking at a New 3500 and we are rethinking our purchase. Just want to see where this is going...

I just bought a new 2015 RAM 3500 4x4 with the 6.7L Cummings about a month ago and have been towing the heck out of our big 42' 5er with it. We haven't had any problems but we only have about 2300 miles on it so far and 1500 of that has been towing with the 5er. Maybe they will give me another one.

Read the RECALL. If your vehicle is affected, it COULD LOSE STEERING!
And it is NOT all trucks and NOT 2x2 and NOT 2008 and older OR 2013 and newer!
Let's not start a panic thread here and provide fodder for other brand owners to attack the truck.
IF YOU OWN A VEHICLE IN THE GROUP, contact a dealer and do what you need to do to protect yourself and others in traffic!

After reading the article it looks like Chrysler will offer to buy back a recalled truck at a value that is to be determined by most likely the dealer. It is a pretty safe bet they then will offer to give you a better buy back deal if you buy a new truck. The article also says they will fix the recalled trucks and resell them which make me wonder why they just don't fix the problem in the first place instead of buying them back. This whole thing sounds like a money making opportunity rather than some kind of punishment!

My 2012 has been so far problem free.

same as 'mud yapster' above. 2015 3500 4x4 dually with the 6.7l and the AISYN transmission. it is puling a 41 foot 5th wheel @ just over 16k lbs. we love it. no problems! also love the factory installed bed pucks for mounting the 5th wheel hitch.

My truck isn't listed, which is a good thing. I love my truck and have had no issues with it. I would be upset if I had to part with it.

unless you have a 2008-2012, you are clear

From the news release

"Models included in the buyback offer are certain Ram 1500s from 2009 to 2012; the Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4 by 4 from 2008; and the Ram 2500 4 by 4, 3500 4 by 4, 4500 4 by 4, and 5500 4 by 4, all from 2008 through 2012. Also part of the offer are 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUVs and the Dodge Dakota pickup from 2009 through 2011."

Oh-Oh!!!! My 2010 2500 4x4 Crew is on the list. It was recalled twice for tie rod changes, but I have never had any issues. And I was just counting the months till it was paid off.

Immaculate, rust proofed every year, no accidents, and 36000 miles.

What are the odds that they used a picture of a Ram grill from a dealership literally 2 blocks from my work? Small world.

2012 3500 4x4. Supposedly as of yesterday, the Chrysler recall line didn't have any details.

Even better- I'm no longer at home to get mail in a timely manner. I am going to have to track this one down.

That said, the '14s came out with some really awesome features. I wouldn't upgrade on my own, but if I'm forced to...

2 things. I read the recall for 2012 ram 3500 4x4 was for chassis trucks. I had my tie rods replaced last year under the recall.
I did not have any steering problems but got em fixed
Anyways.

I have had the prior recalls all done. I'm current from that perspective.

It would be nice if this one didn't impact me.

Not trying to start a panic here Mel. Just food for thought. If they were deceptive once it puts corporate integrety on the line. That was all I was commenting on.

Personally? I can't imagine a better combo than a Cummings/Aisin Drivetrain. And, like Chickdoe, the 5th wheel prep is wizard! It will work nicely with the B&W Companion

You can go on Ram's web site and type in your VIN number and it will tell you if your truck is effected or not.

My 2012 has been so far problem free.

It may be something where it has to go back to the factory for repairs

if you have one of the affected trucks and had been thinking of upgrading, this seems like a great time to do so. If you are happy with your truck.. well, no idea
