Hi everyone, I am Joyce, aka Petunia or Jebby. I am also Oakman's wife. I am really happy with our new Silverback.

f1100turbo, I have been camping since I was 3 years old, sleeping in the back window of my dad's 1951 Ford. So, yes, I have been camping for 58 years. I have camped in cars, station wagons, Sears pop-ups, Jayco Pop-ups, tents and fifth wheels. I have seen a LOT of changes. Love it!!!

Exclamation Problems to Be On the Look Out For

We've had a 2011 Silverback since May, 2010. We've had significant electrical problems since the start. We have replaced 2 TV's, 3 Microwaves, 3 converters and the 50 amp cord. We like the Silverback 35RL but are upset about all the problem and Forest River and Moun View RV don't seem to respond to our request for solutions.

I'm not an expert in these matters but it sounds to me like the park you go to has problems with the power and you are experiencing power spikes and/or low voltage. You might want to spend the money on a portable 50amp surge guard.

I'm curious, how is the freestanding island secured for travel? I know it has locking wheels but I would think there is more to securing it than that.

That might be good if they were always are the park when these malfunctions occured. If they were not at the same park, then they really have some sort of electrical problems.

Is there a "Lemon Law" for RV's? If so then it sounds like Oakman may have a claim under it. I hope he has kept all work orders and receipts from the dealer.

FWI, we talked to a Cedar Creek/Silverback rep at a spring RV show. He told us an island with castors is available for the Silverback, probably from the regular CC line, so the cabinet color will match. It's not on the option list but could be special ordered and quoted us about $500 thru our dealer. You could have it with cabinet doors and 2 big or 3 smaller drawers. Another idea would be to look at IKEA.

Good information to know Wiscampsin. Although I don't think we want one, you never know how things might change in the future.

Eeeeeeek!!!

The worst part of buying a new fifth wheel is rapidly approaching. Paying the sales tax in order to register the trailer.

What do you mean? You have to pay the tax in full to register it?

I forgot to mention that you could get a set or two of extra keys. While I camp solo I do have extra sets. I like to carry a spare set just in case but wanted to keep a set at home at the same time. The service department picked up the extra keys for me.

Yes the tax must be paid in full to get the trailer licensed. That's the worst part of buying a car, truck, or RV. I will be paying tax on the difference between my trade-in and the MSRP.

By the way, thanks for the reminder about spare keys.

Good idea on a place to buy a rolling kitchen island.

Yes, it will be good to see everyone again. The FROG rally in Elkhart sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun

We've been enjoying the heck out of our new Silverback. We are currently at 370 Lakeside park in St. Peters MO.

Well, there is one more thing I would change on the Silverback, the location of the electric rear stabilizer switch. The switch is located at the front of the fifth wheel next to the front landing gear switch. When operating the rear stabilizers you can't even see them.

BTW, I love the cathedral ceilings in the Silverback.
