P....UUUUUUU (38FL issue)

Anyone out there got a plumbing diagram for the 38FL? Trying to figure out why I'm getting "sewer gas" coming from my bathroom sink - the only thing that drains into our #2 gray tank since we don't have a washer. Made sure that the tank drain valve is completely closed, so it's not the source....

Most likely it is not "Sewer Gas" from your black tank; but rotted food and grease in your gray tank.

A good cleaning with a bio-enzyme digester like RV-Digest-It or Rid-X septic system treatment will sweeten that tank. Use warm (not hot) water to fill the tank after dumping 1/2 bottle of RV-Digest-It Unique RV Digest It Holding Tank Treatment Cleans Sensors Unclogs Black Gray | eBay into the tank. Let stand a minimum of 72 hours (a week is better). Then dump and flush with fresh water. Repeat if REALLY dirty.

Also, traffic movement can slosh enough water out of your traps to leave an air space so that the smell can get past the water filled sink/shower trap.

Refill the traps by running water into them when you get where you are going.

Thanks for the comeback, Herk. We're full timers and pretty much stationary now til spring

In the 38FL, there are 2 grey tanks - one for the kitchen and shower and the other is only connected to the bathroom sink and washer, so there's no rotted food or grease to stink it up. We do not have a washer and the only thing that happens at the bathroom sink is tooth brushing and shaving.....not sure why toothpaste should smell so bad, but I'm willing to listen

OLD Soap scum mixed with clothing lint smells pretty bad too.
Check for a leaking trap as well.

Using the ceiling vent fan with a closed up camper can pull odors through any open trap (even the one for the washer).

Is that trap under the camper? Don't have a washer so I am not sure how the drain is plumbed.

You might look at the air admittance valve that should be located under the sink. We had to replace one just shortly after we bought our SOB 5er. After taking a shower or using the sink it stunk like sewer. Went to Home Depot and bought this http://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-Sur...9018/100140686.
Stink went away instantly.

Excellent point. A bad flapper can allow sewer air to enter the vanity cabinet from the turbo flusher. If this is the case; it very well may also leak there when turboflushing so be careful.

See, that's why I was asking if anyone had a plumbing schematic for the CC 38FL...there's all these "if this, then that" kinda things going on. I already had one Robin Williams moment....
