I have a 5500 Onan in mine the gen prep is maybe 20 lbs .
Just a transfer switch and pipe. That weight will go to your pin. Bought my gen fron Norwall power $3940 free freight check them out. Dealer probably wants a few hundred more.

They are very low in vibration . The unit is mounted on rubber and is pretty quiet.

just a question. are you concerned about going over the weight carrying capacity of the truck (2016 ram 3500)? that's a pretty beefy truck. I have not looked at the 2016 specs but I did when we bought our 2015 ram 2500 dually. it has a cargo carrying spec of nearly 5700 lbs. we added a onan 5500 generator to the front of the cardinal 5th wheel and we have plenty of carrying (and towing) capacity for the truck.

Yes, somewhat concerned about the PIN weight and like to know what I'm getting in to and eliminate surprises if you know what I mean.
My truck as configured has a payload just over 3,900 lbs. With that I carry 3 people, 2 dogs, 5er hitch (don't know weight yet) and looking to add a 50 g aux in-bed fuel tank (375 lbs). So all of the adds up fast. The DRW 3500 would add more payload but I'm not getting in to that "parking hell" business since it is my daily driver.

I put a set of timbrens in, does not affect empty ride. I have a 36 gal transfer tank.

Don't know what timbrens are but if they are air bags it has no effect on payload capacity. However, your 36 gal fuel tanks is another question. I can't find a tank size that will allow a bed cover and not interfer with the RAM factory fifth wheel pucks.

I have had this tank for a little over eight but lately it has started to leak a little. I have tried JB Weld but it still leaks. But as you can see from the pictures that a bed cover will fit over the tank, the tank holds 100 gallons and has a 12 volt pump. You might find a shop that can make you a tank. I brought the 12 volt pump from Tractor Supply Click image for larger version

Nice tank and hope you get the leak under control. RDS quoted me a price for a custom size tank so if I go with a gravity flow tank this is a good possibility. I do like the Titan in-bed tanks and their engineers have looked at my measurements and not sure it will fit; I need to decide on which hitch then take measurements and see it the Titan is workable. The Andersen Ultimate will give me plenty of bed space, I just need to decide if I want a slider or not.

from the numbers you have furnished I come up with an estimated cargo weight for the truck of:

2300 pin weight of trailer
300 generator and enclosure
1000 three people and dogs (could be more or less)
400 tank with fuel
200 other things carried in truck (dog treats, people treats, water, etc)

if you are all sub 200 lb people and the dogs are Chihuahuas that don't need dog treats and you might make it. and I fully understand the dual rear wheel parking issues!!!!!!

I rounded up. that does put it over the 3900 lb limit. but the generator is nice.
