Whatsupchuck, best of luck to you and DW on her surgery. We hope everything goes well.
We're looking to replace our old trailer with a newer model but I must say these new awnings sound like a pain! I really don't mind pulling the old awning out with the strap. Never had an issue with it.

The problem is that the 21' awning tube will get a slight bow to it, this is evident by wrinkles that form to the center. Also it's very easy, and most likely what has happened, for the awning material to slide on the roller tube which pinches the the arms on the upright frames. This has happened to me several times. A gentle tug on the arm usually will set it free, then once deployed, slide the awning material on the tube to align the arms with the wall mounts. A pop rivet can be installed at the end of the awning into the tube to keep it in place.
