Progressive surge protector
So after reading some horror stories about not having a voltage/surge protector, we bought Progressives Em's 50 amp hard wired unit. What we didn't think about was when we are at home we use our 30 amp generator. It would not allow the generator to come through. I called Progressive and I told them we had an E 2 which means it doesn't sense a ground. Seems it is very important how you plug in. Anybody else use one of these surge protectors?

You need to make a neutral bonded plug and plug it into your gennie.
Run a wire from the ground to the neutral inside this plug.
Then plug it in .

Just curious, if running the 2 Honda EU2000's parallel, would you have to put a bonded plug on each genset, or just in 1?

Since these are hook up in parallel, one should do it.

If in doubt plug it into the same gennie thats ok plugged into camper.

Will give it a shot. We very seldom use the Hondas. Pretty much for emergency only. But, when we have ran them, I just bypassed the EMS due to the E2.
You never quit learning. I'll make a few of those jumped plugs when I get home in a few days.

Another thought: In addition to (the very necessary neutral): What type generator are you using? Some generators provide very "dirty" power that the surge doesn't tolerate well. Could be spikes, other transients that trigger it. This is the stuff that blows up electronics on line...or even off line anymore! If your genset is a Gen-Inverter type (Honda et al) it should be fine though.
