Residential fridge inverter

Need some weigh-in on this one. Our 38CK has the KitchenAid residential fridge powered by a Xantrex 1100 inverter. On the road it frequently trips out on overload. When we stop for coffee at a rest area it is beeping and the fridge is off but not all the time. We reset it and all is fine again. Battery voltage is good.

I am thinking about replacing the Xantrex with a pure sine 2000 watt transfer unit. Any suggestions? Brand? Watts? One dealer warned us that the factory supplied inverter tends to be undersized.

I had a problem with mine, check your battery connections.
I assume you have 4 6 volt batteries.

I have the Xantrex Freedom SW3012 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter in mine, but I left in the fridge xantrex too, since it works perfectly for that application. You must have an issue with a battery, battery connection, or maybe the fridge itself. Check all of the battery connections first.

Compressor

Had a similar problem with mine this winter. Turned out to be a bad compressor in the refrigerator. The compressor would make a clunking sound sometimes when kicking on and that was the same time the overload kicked in. Whirlpool set a local service tech out and they changed the compressor. No more problem.

Refer

BTW I believe Kitchen Aid is made by Whirlpool. Contact Cedar Creek warranty rep and they will give you the 800 number for Whirlpool. Use that number only as it is for their tech dept that handles their RV and marine business.

What size cables did you have in there?

Factory stock cables were 2 gauge. 1/0 is 2 sizes heavier. 1 gauge would probably have been OK but I wanted to use welding cable because it is more flexible and my supplier only had 1/0. Anyway, when it comes to battery cables more is better.

Check cable connections as others mentioned. Check battery charge. Cable connectors have to be well crimped and tightly bolted to the batteries. Voltage has to hold steady at the inverter input when the fridge starts.
