Roller shade problems
Anyone else having problems with the Irvine Shade & Door roller shades? The metal pull bars come off the bottom of the vinyl night shades. Seems like a rather poor quality product.

How timely!......
We just got back from a week long trip in the Hill Country and had troubles with our shades also.... The shade across the back of living room fell off the wall during the trip over there, and broke the plastic clips on the mounting bracket. This was caused by the "superior CC craftsmanship" where they mounted this long, heavy roller assembly to the thin paneling with tiny screws that pulled right out of the paneling. If they weren't going to try to hit a wall stud with the screws, they should have used an expanding molybolt type anchor on at least one of the screws. Another of the longer shades has screws that are pulling out also.
I also had the adhesive fail on a couple of the roller screens when the hot Texas sun bore down on those black windows...melted it like butter...
Sure wish I could have gotten the pleated fabric day-night shades when we ordered the trailer. They are a lot cooler in the sun and we never had a string break on ours.
Going to break down and haul it to the dealer next week (not close by...) to fix this and some other things because I've been working on poor quality workmanship issues since I took delivery of trailer....sure is an eye opener after owning a Newmar motorhome for years...
Please post the repair method used by your service dealer to fix your shades.

Boy and I thought these new shades would be a improvement, maybe now the wife will be glad I bought that large spool of cord to fix our day night shades.

There is another brand of roller shades that I have not heard anything negative about. The name of the company is MCD. They are located near Elkhart, maybe just over the state line in MI.

It's my understanding CC started out using the MCD shades. Somebody in supply chain found the cheaper on they now use. I think if FR/CC listened got the owners, who BTW pay their salaries , they would better address some of the "good ideas" that quickly turn to failures, then the warranty department would not have to pay through the nose to remedy the self inflicted wounds in the process.
Thank god mine was built before this brain part!

I don't think they ever used MCD shades....our CC was one of the first to use the day-night roller shades even though we went around the tree with CC for weeks trying to get the old style pleated fabric shades when we ordered our trailer. CC claimed that they couldn't get those any longer. Ours are the Irvine shades that had the adhesive melt and allow the shade material to fall off the roller tube. Replacement shades are now on order, but unfortunately, they will be the same poor quality product. Maybe at least the replacement shades will be installed properly by my local dealer, and not fall off the wall like the original install by CC. Also having a window awning installed on the LR slide out to shade the new rollers from the Texas sun....maybe they will last a little longer this way.

Had the 38FL in the shop for nearly two months getting warranty work done, not the least of which was the replacement of window shades that had come off the rollers. Put the unit back into storage for three weeks and when I opened the door yesterday, guess what I found.....Yessireebob - the big shade from the dining room slide layin' on the floor. And this is happening in the COLD part of the year. Can't wait to see how many more drop this spring and summer
Forest River, are you listening?

Dan,
I guess you had the shades pulled all the way down while in storage?
We are having our shades replaced and a list of other quality issues addressed as we speak....I suspect that we are going to have to not lower the shades to the very bottom of the windows so as to keep several wraps of fabric on the rollers, so that the glue doesn't fail again....poor design and product! I miss my day/night pleated shades...

Thanks for the idea. I'll try not pulling them all the way down and see if that helps...BTW, it only seems to happen with the DAY shades - weird

Haven't had any problems with the roller shades coming off down here in Florida. Most people have been really favorable to the roller shades over the day-night pleated ones. I'm sure I could come up with a workable glue if they ever do come off. GE makes an excellent silicon glue that tolerates really high temperatures.
