Run 3 A/C at one time

I have a 2018 Cedar Creek Champagne 38EL on order. I was wondering if it would be possible to run 3 A/Cs at one time when plugged into 50 Amp. Thanks.

You can turn all 3 on but it will only run 2 plus fan on 3rd. Power management will switch between units.

Concidering each air draws 15 amp means you will be using 90% of your 50 amp leaving no power for the rest of the coach. I know the air units only draw 15 amps on startup but three airs to me does not make much sense.

Remember 50 amp service is 2 legs at 50 amps each.
so 1 ac on one leg and 2 on another.

Actually, 50 Amp service provides 50 Amp to each of the 2 legs, 100 Amp total. Plenty of power for three units as long as 2 AC's are wired to one leg and the 3rd unit is wired to the other leg.

X2. That's why DW loves 50amp so good, we can run both A/C and everything else electric in camper and don't have to ever worry about tripping a breaker

Send a message via MSN to Tiggerdad
I see motor homes with 3 and sometimes 4 on a roof. They plug into the same 50 amp receptacle at campgrounds.

I can run all 3 of mine on 50amp service. Never a problem with TV's and other electrical stuff.

We had the 3rd AC put on our washer dryer circuit. All three runs just fine with a 20amp breaker just for the 3rd AC.

It's really wrong as there is 50amp on each leg, so in reality what you really have is 100amps. I have seen big class A with four A/C and with all running that that would be 60amps. On my Cedar Creek I can run 2 air conditioners and electric hot water heater plus furnace and microwave. The only bad thing that happens is DW will forget sometimes when we are on 30 amps

We are purchasing a new RiverStone 39FL with the optional 3rd AC. They demo'd it with all 3 running abd no issuue with any of the other loads. I'm having a little trouble understanding the 2 50 amp 110 leg concept. Could one of you knowledgeable guys help me a bit with this?

So I answered my own question and maybe this drawing will some of you others to understand how the 50 amp RV is wired.

Why would you want to run furnace at same time you are running ac?

I am not an electrician but may be able to help a little. A 50 amp two pole breaker is actually two 50 amp breakers connected together. You have 4 conductors in the power cord. Two are hots (legs), one neutral and one ground. Each one of the hot legs are fed by one side of the breaker in the campground power post plug. Each hot can handle 50 amps. In your RV the breaker panel has two sides to it one for each of the hot legs. Breakers connect to one side or the other which splits your appliances and other electrical loads to one of the 50 amp legs.

While maintaining 120 Volt for all appliances - if I may add, but very well explained.
50 Amp service is in reality a misleading term, it should be called 100 Amp service. because of two 50 Amp wires providing power simultaneously.

Thanks for the explanation. I added a drawing above that helped me "see" it.
