RV Carport Cover
Looking at getting a metal carport cover, has anybody bought one and if so what height and length. Anything particular to look for. Going to cover my Silverback 33iK.

Having one installed next week. They say 11 foot wall height will give me at least 14 foot center height, or more depending on how it's leveled. Twenty wide by 40 long is going to run $2,900 installed, all taxes and labor included. Might be cheaper elsewhere but I've looked at three of their installations and all the owners highly recommend this dealer (local). Was told that each additional foot of length would run about $80.
Just drive around till you see some and ask the owner who did the work and would they recommend them.

Mine is 16' wide, 36' long and 16' wide. At the time, I had a 35' travel trailer. I would suggest spending the extra money and getting the roof pans that run the width instead of length so the water runs off of the side and not front to back. Mine is open in the front and back and has a 3' panel on each side. This will give you enough room to have your slides out.

GL the one I'm pricing is 12'H x 18' W x 40' L with 3' sides and vertical roof for the water runoff. That's a nice one you have there.

Will do. Power company showing up Monday to remove some lines because I'm cutting down an 80' high pine tree which is blocking where I want the carport put. Actually, I hate that ugly pine tree so using the carport as an excuse to cut it down. Once the building is up I'm running 20/30/50 amp power and a water line. Gives me something to do to keep busy.

I ordered a 24x41x14 from Carolina Carports 14 months ago and they claim they haven't got to my order yet. 😤

I've read several negative reviews about them. I don't know for sure but think they are mainly a sales office that has contracts with local installers throughout the country (or at least part of the country).

emm-dee, not sure where you are located but here is a link to the carport I have. Wait time was only a couple of weeks and the crew did a great job. They contract thru individual shed dealers but the installers, for me anyway, came out of their warehouse in Summerfield which is about 30 miles from me.

I know someone in Lake City who had them install his cover. He had good luck with them. But, they only operate in Florida and I'm a couple hundred miles north in Georgia.

Got mine from Carolina Carports last year 12'X18'X42'. They called about 3 weeks after my order to say the install crew would be onsite such and such day and approximate time. Crew showed up when they said and put it up in about 3.5 hours. I had to have the site leveled for them. It is true ... Carolina Carports have several subcontractors that do the install all over the US ... I don't think they employ their own crews.

Carolina Carports
most of the factory contacts were just sales offices and the main office contracts the install labor. i had a 18' X 41' installed with full sides plus added the extra 4 foot braces from roof to supports to add rigidity. the supports are 12' at the support ends and over 14 at the peak or center so there is plenty of room for the 5th to fit (2016 31k silverback) and can open all slides with room to spare. the outfit they sent to install did an outstanding job and am very pleased with the metal and workmanship. plus with full sides i was worried about wind so unit was set up for 180 mile an hour winds. live in florida and this is always a concern to which it is getting a test today since we are having 50 to 60 mph gusts. it flexes a bit but very stable. best investment in Florida to preserve the exterior (and interior) from the elements. pay for the extra cross memebers as well as tie downs and the Gauge of metal you'll be happy. cost me 3000 including the permitting.

I had a carport and workshop built by Carolina Carports. They said 3 to 10 weeks and they called in about 3 weeks and said they were ready to install it the following week. The installation crew showed up when they said they would and did a great job on the install. They were very meticulous and precise. I am very pleased and plan to get them to install an RV cover in the Spring.

That's good to hear. I talked to them a couple of months ago and they wouldn't tell me who would do the actual install so I went with a local installer. I guess it's all in the luck of the draw as to which installer you actually get.

GL1800Rider;
Did you have to get any hurricane certification/ wind load specs to put it up and how did the posts attach to ground. Is that a concrete footer?
Thanks

The carport has double braced uprights 5' in from each end and is anchored every 5'. The base is all crushed concrete and leveled with no actual footer. It is supposed to be good for 150mph.

Did they just drive bent over rebar to hold it down through the base plate? If no footer, what attaches the base plate to ground?
