Screen Door Panels

Our 2014 Silverback 33RL came with removable screen door panels with a clear film....they can be taken off or put on depending on whether you want air flowing thru the door or not...we enjoy having the ability to have our door open with the AC running and seeing out.....now, the question....has anyone ever replaced the film and, if so, with what. My dealer indicates I would have to purchase new panels...frame and all....don't think so...looking for a source for just heavy clear film....any suggestions?

I bought clear film similar to this at Hobby Lobby. It may be worth a look.

Cheers

Thanks...will take a look...we have a Hobby Lobby in our town...everything I had found so far was too thin....like the weight and thickness of what came in it.....I've emailed Forest River....still waiting for their response as to whether I can buy just the film or must it be the whole panel.

I just cut Lexan panels a little larger than the inside of the frame and insert them in the channel. Can remove them very easily for circulation.

I did the Lexan modification on the TT and it's screen door that we had before trading for this Silverback 5th wheel....like you said, just cut and place in the channel....this screen door has these removal panels in addition to the actual screen...the clear film is rolled in place using screen spline.

I assume these panels are for use in the spring and fall season to keep coolish air out but still allows one to see out.....One of mine came out at the top and dealer replaced it.....came out again so put them away in shed...No place to store them in 5er...SOOOO...If it gets that cold I will close outside door.....J

Can't ask for anymore than this.......got an answer from Jeff Holmes, Warranty Administrator, with Forest River, on the screen door panels and the film problem.....because I'm still under warranty he's simply going to send out complete new panels at no charge.....quick turn around on that problem....thanks Forest River.

Awesome! Great response from FR. You never did mention what happened to the original panels. Anything we should be aware of?

On our Silverback the clear film on the bottom panel had a tendency to slip out from under the screen spline(the little rubber rope material)that holds it in place.....probably was cut a little too short and with the pressure every time one opened or closed the door it would gradually work it's way out....I had tucked it back in on 4-5 occasions and had asked FR if I could just get new replacement film and instead Jeff is just sending out complete new panels, frames and all.

Congrats!!! My 1 yr warranty was up in Nov 2014..I think problem is the fact that the plastic is trimmed too close to frames..Both my replacements came loose!!!!..Can I get Jeff's contact information...a call/e mail may be successful for me also...Maybe a little glue added in channel would work..TKS...J

Our Silverback is only 9 months old so our 1 year warranty is still good, plus we have the extended warranty as well.....I simply went to the Forest River web site and sent an email to customer service explaining my issue and Jeff happened to be the one that replied....here's what I have on him:
