Well, in my particular case, the reason I wish I could fully extend my awning while under the shelter would be to allow it to fully dry out if it had been put up wet at the end of a camping trip, to roll it out and clean it if need be, or for any other maintenance issues relating to the awning arms, motor, lighting, etc...

When I park my unit under the shelter I level it, put down the stabilizers, extend the slides, hook up power, etc... just like I'm on site so it is not convenient to break it down and move it out on a whim, OR I'm just lazy.

Other than that, no, I don't "Use" my awning with the RV under the carport.

Got it. Makes sense to me now. Was just looking at it from a full timer mentality.
