Side wall crack on 2012 35qb4

Found a six inch crack in side wall behind the top corner of the bunk slide. Not sure what causes this and if it is at all a common thing. I sent pictures to dealer they are going to see if CedarCreek will help me out.

could it be a stress crack from the screw that holds the seal on?

Forest River took my Rockwood Windjammer back to Indiana and fixed a similar crack all at their expense. They replaced the entire 30 foot wall. Good luck!

Not sure if their is a screw in the crack but sure looks to be stress. I know it has me stressed out. We picked the Silverback over the Montana due to the side wall construction was told CedarCreek stand up due to their construction, not so convinced now. But still love your Silverback.

Although the sidewalls aren't a laminated structure, the fiberglass is glued to aluminum studs and could crack at a stress point (like the slide opening) with flexing of the structure when travelling down the road.

Here's a link to Cedar Creek brochure on construction details... Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel Downloads by Forest River

Got a call this morning sounds like CedarCreek is going to take it back to the factory and repair the crack. Still waiting for the details but the dealer thinks they will come pick it up they are dealing with Dennett Ray. Sounds good so far, but not happy to have on salt covered roads sounds like it will be done in January.

They picked up the camper today to fix the sidewall, I also put a list in the sink as they told me too. I will be waiting to see how they fix it and what they think caused it. Hope all goes well and it is back in Vermont by May.

Man, just when I think I've steered clear of a brand with sidewall cracks. That's the first one I've heard of, but I'm sure it's not the first to happen. Something I noticed a while back when I saw one of the first new style 2014 silverbacks, was they added an expansion joint above one of the slides at a similar position to where that crack is. It wasn't the 3QB4 though. The only expansion joint mine has is under the bedroom slide.

Glad they are taking care of you! Hopefully you wrote up every little problem you have had with it as well so they can fix it all while there.

My buddy had the sidewall crack and delam on his V-Lite 3 years ago, FR took care of his very well, fixed everything he asked for and then some, while there they upgraded his bathroom with new tub and built in shower curtain assy and a power awning! He was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

I think you will find Cedar Creek will go over and above all your expectations with the repairs. They have a great reputation for customer service, plenty of posts regarding excellent customer service. Good luck.

Just found out camper is done and should be back this week. Not sure how they fixed the side wall but hope to have more information when its back at the dealer. Does sound
like they fix a lot of other things.

Well that's good to hear. Hopefully all is good to go, and just in time for better weather. I'd be interested to know what they did on the crack.

Well it came Friday at 4:30 the dealer called me to inspect before they left it. So I went to look and they had found it was cracked again in the same spot. The repair had been done they seemed the wall over the slide out. So back it goes, never took it off the truck. Stay tuned.

Are you sure they took it to the (Forest River) factory and not some Repair Shop? Most of F/R sidewall repairs for (Cracks) are (Replace Entire Sidewall)! Youroo!!

I was not surprised how they fixed it. I had hoped that's what they would do given the location. I was told in an email from Denise Davis (Dennett Ray replacement) that they made a camber adjustment to the frame. So how knows what they will do this time.

Denise Davis just took over the Cedar Creek east warranty. All I know is the truck driver picked it up at Cedar Creek and that where it is going back too I hope with better outcome this time.

Cedar Creek called to fill me in this week a few times. They had Lippert check the frame and outrigers all okay their. They then install a aluminum plate in the wall to reinforce it. They then installed a new piece of gelcoat. I sounds like they tried to do their best I hope they got it. The took it for ride to test it then sent it off to transport department with the hope they get it out next week. Hopping things turn out better this time.

For yall's sake I hope it holds. Ours is back in the shop for round 2 of cracking front cap and outdoor kitchen door. Crazy, but I'm thinking cargo trailer conversion next time, as it's one of the few towables on wheels I've seen without frames breaking or sidewalls cracking.

Jscribner, did you by chance get your rig back? Curious how the repairs turned out.
