Silverback 2nd AC in bedroom?

Anyone know how much the 13.5 BTU 2nd AC weighs?

Silverback owners... do you recommend the 2nd AC?

How hot can the outside temperature get to before the main living room AC is not enough to keep you cool.

We're looking at a 33RL with Thermopane windows and trying to decide on the 2nd AC option.

I live in MO and I wouldn't be without the 2nd A/C on my Silverback. The unit you're looking at is over 36 feet long and has three slideouts, I would say get the 2nd A/C.

You will need it in the 29RE.......too much square footage to cool and the bedroom stays to warm for me.

FWIW -I had a 13,500 BTU Penquin 2 unducted AC installed in my Silverback 29rk bedroom last summer and am pleased with it.

I've read this info request on another forum regarding second AC. I replied that nowhere in Canada that I know of would one require a 2nd AC unit for July or August our warmest months. My question is how far south of the US Canada border would one have to be to require that 2nd unit? What would the temps be that require it? I know Oakman is in Missouri and recommends it. Kansas City is about a 1000 miles south. Would it, could it, still be required north of KC? Thanks just curious.

I have two ac wish I had three, I saw a guy with a CC that used one of those portable ac carts that ducts out and ducked it where there dryer ducked out since he didn't have one and I thought that was a great idea not quite as loud, cheaper, lower clearance height

Thanks for the replies. But I'm still curious about the outside temperature and how hot can it get before the living room AC is not enough to keep the 5er comfortable. I'm more concerned about the added weight of the 2nd AC than the cost of adding it as an option.

Those recommending the 2nd AC... do you also have Thermopane windows?

We live in Alaska... and will using our 5er as a snowbird second home in the lower 48 from Oct thru April.

I have the double pane windows and I use mine anytime it gets in the 60s + with the sun shining with no shade it can warm up inside in a jiffy, with the tall ceilings and all the windows in the living room it manly need the other air for just itself,

If you have a Penguin 2 A/C by Dometic installed the additional weight will be just under 105 pounds.

How hot it gets before you need the 2nd unit depends on a number of other factors such as outside humidity, whether or not your trailer is in shade or partial shade, etc. For summers in Alaska and winters in the lower 48 you probably don't need the 2nd A/C. That's just my opinion of course.

I would recommend the second ac just for the fact that is gets real stuffy in the bedroom when it gets hot outside.

We run the bedroom A/C when it is above about 80 in the summer.

If we are boondocking we run the living room unit by day and the bedroom unit by night, since our Honda will only pull one or the other.

We also mounted a fan on the bedroom wall above the front window. The fan really helps move the air in the spring and fall when the bedroom A/C is too much.

The bedroom A/C was a must have when we were shopping for a new camper. I feel it is better to have it and not use it, than to need it and not have it.
