Silverback Changes

Word on the street is they're changing the front cap design on the later 2014 Silverbacks. Supposed to look similar to the CC, which long ago when they came to be, they looked almost identical. Also hearing they will come in white again. If I ever get pictures of what I'm hearing, I'll be sure to post. I know the CC and SB are still apart on the bells, whistles, frames and some other items, but it appears they may be closing the gap on the exterior appearance. Anybody else hear these rumors?

Hope they loose the gray. We considered a Silver Back when they were white. We looked at one when buying our Cedar Creek. The cathedral ceilings on the slides made the height of the slides shorter and the color of the CC was more attractive in our opinion. We even looked at an Open Road quad bunk, but the gray just didn't do it for us.

I'll be taking the factory tour during the rally and I'll look to see if they've made any of the changes. If so I'll take a few pics.

Thanks oakman, you'll probably get something before I do. I would own a SB, but I've always hated the front caps. Seems a lot of manf think everybody wants the front of their fifth to look like a transformer. I prefer the old traditional smooth rounded fronts like the CC, DRV, etc. just my preference though. Some model fifths have gotten downright gaudy with the decals, lights and advertisements on the front. Must appeal to somebody.

I agree that the front cap on my fifth wheel is "unique" to say the least and not for everyone. That unique design gets a lot of attention in campgrounds but what I really like about it is the fact that the design allows for a 90+ degree turn. I haven't had to use the slider on my hitch ever since buying the Silverback.

Forgot about that. For the short bed market, I reckon it definitely fits the bill. It wouldn't be a deal breaker, just not our 1st pick in design. The rumors of change has got us wondering though. We're still in the debating stage now. Only things that steer us more towards the CC is the res fridge and big shower, since we will be living in it full time. Other than that, the SB is spot on for best bang for the buck.

X2 We love our Silverback and the grey color goes great with our black truck. One of the reasons I bought a Silverback was the front cap because of the 90 degree turning radius without having to worry about a slider. The whole trailer turns heads in campgrounds. This is the first trailer that people make an effort to compliment us on it. I hope they don't change it too much.

X3 We love our Silverback also and really like the cathedral slides. We also have lots of people looking at our camper and admiring it.

Last camping trip we met someone that works at the CC factory and he did mention that some changes were on the way for the Silverback.

Hopefully we'll all know soon. Hard to please everybody, which I guess is why there's umpteen makes and models now. Just hard to find too many built like the CC and SB (Hung walls, 16" oc studs etc.). That's one of our biggest reasons for going this route. It's the closest thing in price and construction to the Mobile Scout Titan we had several years ago. I'm settling on the frame, as the 12" lippert i-beam is no match to the 16" boxed Leland frame that was on the Titan. There are a few more "full time" units out there built really well, but few to none have the layout of the 35qb4 or the 36b4.

Figured I'd post these few pictures in this thread too. Rolled into dealer today just as we were discussing options and ordering. Definitely looks more like a CC.

IMO, Cedar Creek Still doesn't have the front cap of the Silverback correct. We have a 1 of a kind front cap on our 2009 32WRL. It's White, we replaced the "swishes" they had with the colorized bear. The Bear even has the CC maroon color in it.

To get it correct, they need to use the covered bridge and incorporate the bear. Without the bear, its not a Silverback. The Gorilla was the biggest mistake...

Never seen a gorilla on one, so I'm lost on that comment. As with any RV, take off what you don't want, customize to your liking. I'll probably try to order with nothing but the silverback emblem on the front, minus the bear. Worst graphics I've ever seen on a fifth wheel was the first "Big Dog" toy haulers by sunnybrook somewhere around 2007. Somebody else got that name now. Had the spiked dog collar and some chain on the side. Now that was terrible, and they changed it shortly after.

We are the proud owners of a 29 RE silverback and one of the things that attracted us to it was the different color and the open floor plan. So many people like the grey color and wonder why they haven't made any other campers that color. We are seasonal campers and live in our campground all summer. When we first pulled this camper in here I really got the looks. There are a lot of salems and cardinals in this CG. Because that is what the local dealer sells we went a few towns over and bought this one and love it.

The only thing I can think of offhand that I didn't like about the new Silverback is the location of bathroom sink. It makes shaving the right side of the face a bit more difficult. I like my bathroom layout better. I'm very envious of the 50 amp cord reel. I may have to do that mod in the future.

We just put a deposit on a Silverback 2014 33rl.to hold it till we get to Tampa Fl next weekend. My saleswoman was describing two 33rl to me on the phone. She told me one was white and the other one is a cream color. So it sounds like they are definetly changing the color to keep up with the CC

I hadn't seen a gorilla graphic either until just last week while we were at the Colter Bay campground. One of the FROG members at the rally had a 2010 29RE that had the gorilla graphic. I really didn't like that graphic.
