Silverback front cap paint

I had very bad fading on front cap, so I contacted forest river and they agreed to fix front cap, now im having issue took 5th wheel to dealer and they said they don't not have a paint booth big enough to do work, and that no one in area did that would preform forest work. I have contacted forest on this with no response at all. Not sure what I should do now. the told me when I first called it had to be taken to a forest river dealor. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very few dealers even have a paint facility ... you'll need to call around for one to fit your needs then get approval from FR. Some brown cap owners are trending towards the light color cap replacement offered by FR.

I had brought my first Cedar Creek from Tom Johnson and they had a huge service center and they could not paint the cap. That was on the first one, they wanted to send camper to a paint shop. This one I have now was brought at Tom Johnson and when this cap faded they told me to call the factory. They could not fix the cap

They gave me a June 19, 2017 date three months ago, so I'm guessing they've got to be into September/October by now.....

304bs having similar paint issue

My 304bs is having a similar issue with the paint. The paint is peeling off. Called the dealer and no response.

Sounds like FR has a problem in the painting department!

In April, 2015, I accidentally scraped under a low hanging tree with our 2014 Silverback33RL and damaged the roof as well as scraping the top of the front cap...insurance paid for a new roof installation and having the front cap painted...all the work was done by our dealer, Southaven RV, in Southaven, Mississippi just south of Memphis TN....they had just built a paint facility at their dealership....did a great job even though it had to be done twice....got the wrong color the first time but second try looks like a perfect match....new decals and all.

Fading front cap

I have a 2015 surveyor 240RB and the cap is fading went to dealer said he would contact forest river to get warrenty squared out. I have a friend that ownes a paint and body shop and does excellent work he told me if it is gel coat it needed marine grade paint and primer and it might last 1 year before the paint started peeling and would look worse than the fading recomended
3M #1 with a final finish buffing pad Lots of work but maybe a better option

I don't believe the marine paint part. The front cap is fiberglass same as a boat or car. My front cap was painted 3 years ago. Epoxy primer, automotive base coat clear coat. Looks as good as it did when painted, No chips, peeling lifting nothing. Your friend needs to talk to a good paint supplier and get the real story on what to use. My rear cap was painted 2 years ago at an automotive bodyshop. Same thing. Buffing and polishing will last maybe a year and it will be just as bad again. Most of the major manufactures now paint the caps. Full body paint jobs have been around for years also. They still look good many years later as well.
