Slide extending while stored

I've seen a thread discussing this problem but can't find it through search. I have a 33IK with hydraulic slides. I stored the RV for about two weeks and when I returned the bedroom slide was extended about 6 inches. The RV was not level and the bedroom side was low. Anyone with info on why and how to resolve?

Could possibly have air in the system or it may be a leaking line/piston.

I had a bad hydraulic solenoid in my kitchen slide and it did the same thing. Really unnerving when it starts creeping out while your towing it.

You probably have a piston seal in your bedroom cylinder leaking. If you really lay on the retract button for several seconds after all slides are in ... try letting off just as the last one retracts and see if the slide creep lessens. This won't cure your issue, but will point to the cause. Pressure builds up on the retract side of the cylinders when you keep the switch push in ... if the piston seal is leaking that pressure will bleed past and push out the slide until the pressure equalizes. There is not an extend/retract valve per each slide ... this is an open system so to speak.

Thx for the replies. I will check the piston seals. How do I see the piston on bedroom slide? Must be under bed frame?

I'm not talking about the cylinder rod seal and wiper. The seals I speak of are internal to the cylinder itself on the piston ... you can't just look at the cylinder and tell. You need to be a bit handy with a wrench and diagnostic ability to check the cylinder itself which is located under the bed. Here's Lippert's "how to" see specifically pages 7 and 8.

You cylinder most likely will be under your bed.
You wont be able to visually see the piston, its in the cylinder. And you shouldn't see anything by the wiper seal on the gland nut on the end of the barrel of the cylinder that the rod passes thru.

I would test the cylinder like mentioned above but you also need to check the valve to see if its closing properly after the cylinder is extended or retracted.
It seems more likely to me a faulty valve could be the issue instead of a piston seal in the cylinder.

There are no valves per say to operate your slides. The pump motor rotates one way to extend the slides and the opposite way to retract the slides. There is one valve that isolates the slides from the level up ... the other three are for the level up pairs of cylinders. There is also a check valve internal to the slide pump itself. Read up on your hydraulic system as it better explains it.
As for air in the system ... the hydraulics are self bleeding. Cycle your slides fully in and out 3-4 times and it will bleed itself.

I forget I deal in hyd troubleshooting quite often at work ... they basically want you to close the slides, remove the extend hose (one opposite the silver ram) from the cylinder and cap it, then press the retract button. If you see a steady flow of oil out the ftg when you are pressing the retract button ... you have a leaking piston seal. About a half dozen drops is normal.

Thx Dieselguy. If I continue to have problem I will check that out. It is under warranty so I might take it to my dealer. They are good...
