Sliding door for bathroom
OK; one more question!
This is from my DW and 10 year old granddaughter.
With the sliding bathroom door that is used in the Cedar Creek 34RL bathroom what does one use for a retention method (door lock)? I was thinking of the sliding closet door locks; but the dealer was afraid this would not work with the hollow core door.
Suggestions?

I would figure out a working system. RVs do not have locks on the bathroom doors as a safety feature. A small child could lock themselves when the trailer is not hooked up & the heat could easily reach over 100 degrees. Happened to us when we were looking at RVs years ago at a dealership our son locked himself in a bathroom it took an RV tech several minutes to take the door off. He was so hot a trip to the ER was needed. He would not be with us if it happened at our house & went unnoticed..... like the old refrigerator doors......

We keep our bathroom door open. Pull for privacy. We have taught our grandkids, ages 6 and 8, to respect door pulled closed privacy. In all our visits and travel, not 1 issue, ever!

We're with SilverbackMel ... seldom is there anyone in the fiver other than close family so we see no need for a lock ... not like being in a bathroom at Wally World.

Most locking bathroom doors can be easily opened from the outside with either a long pin or a coin - at least that's my experience

Most folks understand a closed door is not opened without knocking. At least that's what we were taught as kids and we passed it on to ours.

I understand totally where your coming from Jim. I have 2 females,DW and DD, who NEED the security of a locked bathroom preferably with me standing guard outside and yes I understand its a private bath. I would suggest a simple hook and eye

I agree if you absolutely need it to lock the simple eye and hook is a good idea. What I would suggest is that you make sure you can pop up the hook from the outside if need be with a Slim Jim or a butterknife.

Our sliding door has a fabric strap with a snap to hold the door open for traveling or closed when in use. We only use it in the travel mode as we don't see any reason to lock a door in the closed position.

Not in the older campers. When our son locked himself in the RV dealership tech had to remove the door hinge screws & remove the entire door......... do not want to go threw that again.

Our door is closed (we have a 29rl) means someone is in there, don't open. Or, a hook and eye would work.

The (Eye & Hook) will not clear the (SLIDING DOOR)pocket opening! Also as already stated the (Cardboard Doors) have (VERY LITTLE) solid interior surface to support any type of Fasteners! Knock Before Entering!  Youroo!!

The above is a Cherry Panel door I made for our (Bath/Front Room)! They are Not a option in Cherry from the Factory. It has NO lock assy.  Youroo!!
