Standard Bed TV

I was wondering if a forum member is towing a Cedar Creek Silverback 29RE with a standard bed (6 1/2) and no slider? Looking at the 2500HD SRW Duramax. Also considering a 4x4 drivetrain. Are the notches in the front cap adequate? I would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

I've got a 2013 F250 with a 6 1/2 foot bed and a standard hitch. I've have the 5th wheel at almost a 90 degree angle to the truck. It does fine. The caution is to be careful doing this on uneven ground. Anyway. I did the research ahead of time and I don't think you need a slider for this combination.

I pull my 2014 Cedar Creek 34 RLSA with a standard bed 2011 Silverad HD with a B&W Patriot hitch, no slider. Also pulled two other 5th., wheels prior to the CC. No problems.
I don't want to ever try a 45 degree turn, tight turns put way too much stress on the trailer and tires.

I do have a slider but have never used it. Only can think of two times I have ever come close to the fuel tank. Within six inches.

One was in a park and a truck was parked where I had to make a tight turn. It was 5:00 AM on Sunday and trying to beat the snow storm out of Michigan. A friend and I was going to travel home in case anything came up.

Other is my drive. The ditches are deep and road not very wide. I have a 18' ft culvert. My solution just got 3 pieces of pipe. 2 are 19' and one 14'. Plan on having over 30' culvert when I get home.

I have put a fifth airborne hitch and it gives u more distance and at least 75% better ride while towing.

Here is my TV 3/4 ton quad cab with short bed and 100 gal fuel tank.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Do your homework! Measure how much clearance you have at max turn radius. Previous RV was 2011 36ft Keystone Outback with new style cap. Did a 180 degree U turn; cost me $660 in paint and dent removal. My 2015 Silverback 33rl has similar clearance. I chose to keep my slider hitch and ONLY use it in extreme tight turn areas when parking. I believe you will be fine with your rig. Just back very slow and pull forward and then adjust steering and ease back . There is no loss of pride in getting that thing backed in right ! I ignore all non requested backing help even if provided by the campground. Hit something and they are GONE !
Always ask campers to please move vehicles that may be in your turn radius.
Last year at 2 tight campgrounds vehicles were damaged by RV parkers!!

Not sure if all 29 RE come with an extended hitch. If the one u are looking has the kingpin underneath the camper that would be the only way I be concerned. Like above get measurement or get some one u know that has a short bed to hook up and pull it around. The dealer in WV offered this to someone while I picked up mine.

Good comment. I ordered my 2015 with TrailAir hitch. May make a difference

You will be fine. I tow a 2014 29 IK with a Sierra 2500 HD 6 1/2 bed no slider. Had concerns too but so far no issues,

I have a 2014 CC29RE and tow with a 2014 Silverado 2500 HD -6l- with 4 wheel drive and a 6 1/2 " box> I also have a R16 hitch.....a good friend who has towed many 5 wheelers said "if you are going with the R16 I would recommend that you go one step further (not much more$$) and get the slider - you might need it sometime" So I got it..have not used it yet....Have been at 90* twice no problem ..Ground was level!!!

Get the 3500 instead. About the same price and more load capacity. You'll thank yourself in a few years when you get a bigger trailer.
