Melting a small hole in the carpet for the ties? Great idea. I will try that on my next set.
Thanks

Just for clarity. Most quad steps will accomodate carpet on the bottom step and still fold. The Quadra Step, manufactured by Elkhart Tool and Die (ETD), which is a heavier unit, will not. My '12 36CKTS came with the flimsy 3 step. It did not last 6 months not to mention that the last step was always a long way down due to level up height.

I leave my step covers on all the time. The covers also serve another purpose. They help protect your pet's paws. A friend of ours did not have step covers and their dog got it's front claws caught in the holes in the steps and did some big time damage to their paws. They have had step covers ever since.

We put step covers on our 2006 Puma several years ago mainly to keep our dogs from getting their claws hung up in the holes........ The Puma was traded in last week again to our local dealer by the next owner the covers are still on........ doubt they have ever been removed in many years & still hanging on..... . After 3 owners the 2006 Puma fiver still looks good....

My covers are now on their third trailer. I do however take them off. It is her job to take care of the step covers on set up and tear down.

Hey Duck, did you retrofit the 36ckts with the Quadrastep?

If I remember right, I had to drill 2 extra holes because the bolt holes did not align perfectly. However, with one other person to help, it was easy.

You can also glue indoor/outdoor carpet down with a bead of silicone around the edges and one down the center.
