Suburban hot water heater

My 10 gallon suburban hot water heater worked first couple of times and it worked fine on propane. Last week tried to fire off on propane , it did not work. At first it made the clicking sound then stopped. The switch inside the trailer initially had the red led come on then it stopped coming on. I checked for spiders, none, I have propane and I am at a loss what comes next. I didn't have my fluke meter with me last week but I will have it with me next time . It does work on electric .

Thanks

I found this. I know there are other sources.

If you haven't used it for a while you may need to bleed air out of the propane lines. Light the stove burners for about 30 seconds and that should get the air out of the lines. I have the same problem when trying to run the refrigerator on propane. Beyond that others will have far more expertise than me.

You don't say what trailer you have but if the water heater is the farthest thing from the propane tanks, it just may take a few times to get the air out of the line. My old TT had the WH at the rear and it always took quite a few lighting attempts before it would run properly. It will only try to light three times before it quits with the red light on (this is a safety feature). After it has given up, you have to turn off the switch for 10 seconds before it will try another 3 times.

Suburban hot water heater

Sorry to hijack....

Mine quit on the first trip we used it(last weekend). Check it out today... igniter looked fine. Man there was a bunch of paint ashes in the burner/WH assym. Tried it a few times and keep getting the DSI failure code. I am not getting spark at the igniter. Inside I go. Take off the cover and the igniter board assym is just laying on the floor. Take the cover off and find a burnt/hot spot on the control board.

Does anyone have any experience with Suburban providing any parts assistance or am I stuck with the dealer. The RV is only about 6 months old.

Suburban hot water heater

I got a can of compressed air , blew out the burner unit , used a long black strap to clean out burner tube Threw the switch inside fired right off . Found spiders in bottom of unit . All is good

Good job. Others with a similar problem may find this helpful.
