Youroo, my pale white gray matter is having difficulty with your "3/4 TP" phrase. Please explain for me.

Thx, Dan

It is unusual for anode rods to be completely wasted after just 1 year, but it can happen. Water with extreme mineral can cause rapid galvanic exchange, and better that the anode rod takes the hit instead of the water heater rusting out.

I have been using the same anode rod that came in my 2008 unit, and will probably replace it at the end of next year.

They week we moved into our home and installed a new water heater, I removed the anode rod immediately. Bacteria tends to grow on the rod and gives the water a sulfer/rotten egg smell. Been in the house 10 yrs and the water heater is still going strong. I'll sacrifice a water heater not to have the smell. As for our campers. I've only had to purchase 1 anode in all the years we've had campers. We are weekend warriors for the most part and they just tend to last longer than we keep the camper. I will replace one when they get to 25%, though.

They use mag. anode because it goes away rather than the alum. tank! Not for your health. An anode gets used up to prevent corrosion of the WH tank.

Yes I do, which does help to extend the life of the water heater.

Many anode rods available for less than $20.00 on Amazon or other sites.
