Summer retreat

We are looking to go south (Florida) for the first time this winter. Does anyone know of good place to spend a few months this winter? We are bringing a couple jet skis also...so we would like to be close the a lake. We have a 36ckts or 40 foot camper. Please let us know....we need to make plans.

It depends on what you are looking for. There are 30k lakes in FL. 3 are natural. If you want fresh water, central FL ow where to look. If you want a bit of seasonal wx, North Central. If you want endless summer, South is the place. You have about a week to make reservations at the nicer places. They book up fast.

Lake Okeechobee. Silver Palms RV Resort. Beautiful place. Town not so much. 10 minutes and you are in the water doing your thing. Nice marina and restuarant just down the road. Resort has BEAUTIFUL pool, clubhouse and library. Always planned activities going on. They sell sites there but no pressure for tours or sales. They have new sections open. VERY SECURE GATED PARK. Area around is not dangerous but no stragglers will be wandering in this upscale park. KOA 1/2 mile away has great ice cream, bar and golf course.
In less than 1 hour you are in upscale Stuart, add 15 minutes and Jensen Beach! Always warm down there. We are booked in Ft Pierce this February. Don't need your kind of lake water.
Almost all places in FL are sold out.
Good luck. ( South of central FL). Us old fart retirees keep hogging the space and know to reserve early. In 10 years I won't be needing any RV spots😜 but until then can't have mine!!

Key West or any of the Keys. you will have a blast with the jet ski, weathers perfect, but its not cheap there. Worth every penny though.

OP writes: "South Florida fresh water preferred. ...please send a link."

The only fresh water you're going to find in the Keys is from the tap and even that is questionable.

South Florida and fresh water mostly means Everglades. However, I do know of a nice little park just North of LaBelle that is reasonably priced and might work for you. Here is the link:
Whisper Creek RV Resort: Welcome
If this does not fit your needs you will need to expound on those reasons so we can help you narrow down the field. Time is of the essence.

We found a place in nables...crystal lake. But the price is high for 5 months. What is the norm on monthly price in south Florida ? We just wonder what others pay for 5 months.

We love Riverside RV Resort & Campground located between Arcadia and Port Charlotte - going back in January for the 3rd year. It is located on the Peace River (boat ramp at the campground), which is part salt near the Gulf and fresh the further you go upriver. Friendly people, lots of activities, convenient but quiet location. The longer you stay, the cheaper the monthly rate. There are 3 different areas, with the rates varying depending on the area and how long you're staying. We stay in the "Premium" sites (middle level) for 3 months and this year's rate is $1,169 mo., 30 amp. serv. inc./extra $45 mo for 50 amp.). The Lakes opened last season and is the top tier with huge sites. Being newer, this area is probably your best bet for getting a site this late. Monthly rate for a 5 month stay is $1110 ($1268 for 3 mo.)
The fact that so many folks return year after year says a lot about the campground. Check out their website!

Been to this resort and x2 on comments. Great, friendly place. Nothing is cheap in Florida below Tampa. That is the frost line.

No fresh water near Crystal Lake and it's a co-op park. If you like the area try Paradise Pointe RV resort at 14500 Tamiami Trail E (US 41).
You need to know that 6 months is the sāme price as 4 months due to the high state resort tax.
