another vote for the PI EMS...I hardwired mine mod so far on new rv.

"Need" is a relative term. You can tow any 5er with a short bed. What you may not be able to do is turn. The length of the bed, location of the hitch in that bed, cab shape, pin box offset and front cap shape all dictate what the turning capability will be.
A bigger safety concern is the payload capacity of your 3/4 ton considering your 38CK pin weight is over 2300 lbs dry!

BTW, I use the Progressive Ind. hardwired PMS installed using Turbs technique.

I'll chime in on the Progressive EMS. Just purchased one for our first trip on a new trailer. I never knew there was that much fluctuation in voltage supply. I watched our display go from 122, 125, and 127 up and down throughout the weekend, and it was neat to watch our actual amperage draw in real time as it was used. I will never go camping again with my Progressive EMS. It's worth every penny.
