Tire Pressure Loss

I checked my tire pressure before a trip and found one without pressure. Like an idiot I thought it was the inside tire extension.
I drove 300 miles to go camping and back. Nothing happened.
I then too my motor home to get the oil changed and told them to
check the drivers side inside tire extension. They told me the tire
was out of air and the tire was now ruined. My question is how long had
I been driving and didn't hear the tire or see any problem (had just got
back from Michigan). Why didn't the tire rip of and come apart.
Has anyone had this happen to them ?

Thats one advantage with duals. One tire can simply go flat and you might be able to move down the road blisfully unaware. One reason you see truckers thumping all their tires every time they stop. Why it didnt come apart? Who knows, flike, strong sidewall, maybe still holding a few pounds of air.

Neither dual can go flat, and continue on, they are rated for half the load and must be the same diameter and air pressure. In the case of the op, the outside dual is also damaged and will fail sooner than later. I lost the inside dual in a class "C", couldn't drive over 5 mpg maybe 1/4 of a mile for the shaking and leaning, all tires on the axle were replaced.

The duals are not rated for half. The tires state their rating for single and dual use. The dual rating is less than the single rating, but nowhere near half. Probably like 80 or 90%.

U R LUCKY;

The bad tire may have had enough air in it to hold it against the rim bead, but not enough where it made significant contact with the road or the other tire.

The good tire that was supporting the entire load may have been damaged and could be on the verge of failing. I agree with other posters. If this happened to me, I would replace both tires, the bad one and the good one. Sometimes when I replace tires, I keep the best looking one as my new spare. In this case, I wouldn't even consider keeping that tire as a spare...

Lesson learned - when something doesn't look right, find out why before proceeding.

Just a side note.....TPMS is very good, however, not end all to replace careful inspections.

My system failed at the sensor level and gave me false warnings; twice.
I checked everything the 1st time with my high quality manual guage.
It showed perfect pressure at 80 psi vs monitor reading loosing pressure rapidly. Went to next exit and same scenario. Found a tire store open and they inspected the tire and found it perfect. Monitor was reading "losing pressure"
Had to remove the system and drive without it. ( the mfgr stepped up and replaced it; no charge. They did find mine failed as described).

Just say'n inspections are important.
