If you don't want a greasy mess you need the teflon plate.

Can you tell us what the factory charged you for the TrailAir?

Yes I would use a teflon plate. It is designed to reduce the friction and wear between the hitch and trailer pin box regardless of whether it's a Trail Air or not. Without the Teflon plate you still have metal to metal contact.

They charged us the rally price, I don't know if that's what they are charging everyone. We were treated very nice at Cedar Creek yesterday, the hitch was $578. As always I am treated more as a friend at Cedar Creek than a customer, if I should ever buy another camper I'll look no further than Cedar Creek.

We have a 2005 Cardinal with a TrailAir pin box. After pulling this rig for 40,000 miles I would never have any other brand of pin box. And yes, you needs lube plate regardless of pin box brand.

Sadly a teflon lube plate does absolutely nothing for the pin itself. You must still grease the pin and hitch jaws. Otherwise you will be spending a lot of mony replacing worn out parts. The teflon disc only helps twisting motion between the pin box and hitch head.

How much air is supposed to be in the TrailAir? How many pounds or are you supposed to go by the arrows

Air pressure? Depends on pin weight. You go by the arrow. I usually start out at 80PSI on a decently warm day.

Add Revolution/Sidewinder many types are not compatible due to wedge.

Do you happen to know the measurement from bed to pin plate with plate level?

Many of these lose air. Folks get upset with them. I learned something this year. The actual zerk where air is put in is screwed in. A) the threads on that zerk device on SOME of these units was put in at a slight crossthread, and it loses air that way. Take all air out, take it out, put on teflon tape and put it in correctly........and B) the pin inside the zerk (the one that you push to let air in and out, the tiny protrusion, I'm sure it has a name ??) is sometimes not 'set' correct. Again, let all air out and fiddle with it to ensure it's straight up and down, and reput in air.

I have NOT TRIED this, but heard it from more than one source.
