Trail-air question

since it seems I had to pump up my trail air every 7 to 10 days I was wondering what others have experienced. I sent in a warranty inquiry to Lippert and they do not seem to want to give specific guidelines as to how long the air bags should stay full. This thing has been the biggest headache, 1st the flanges what it attaches to were welded on at different heights so they had to send someone down to remove them and reweld now it seems the bags do not hold air for any length of time.

Hopefully someone else chimes in as I don't have this product- but from my reading of people's experiences is that they should hold air for months at a time.

Have you tried to find a leak with soapy water?

not really my problem its a 2013 CKTS, if it has a leak let them find it

Like he said try some soapy water maybe on the valve stem maybe its leaking there. I have to add air but its more like once a month or two months.

Haven't had mine for long but have yet to experience "air loss". I do deflate mine to a minimum pressure when unit is stored. As previously suggested, check the valve stem with a soapy solution. Those pesky devils cause a lot of problems with tires and other inflatable devices. Good luck!

Sounds like a leak to me. Luckily for you, it sounds like getting to your dealer is pretty convenient. My dealer is 120 miles away (closest dealer was 60 miles away) - so I generally try to troubleshoot/fix as much as possible.

Sorry to be blunt, but if you aren't willing to do anything to help yourself, why should anyone here spend time on your problem?
It would take all of 5 minutes to spray some soapy water on the unit to look for a leak.
And maybe it is just the air valve, did you check it with some spit?
Hope you find the problem.

Gotta love the "spit" fix. Only thing better would be to use WD-40 around the valve before you spit on it, then seal the whole mess with some duck tape wrapped in twist ties while wiping silicone off your fingers!

you are correct, I suppose I really wasn't looking for the cause just opinion as to how long others go without adding air. As long as I have a warranty and live less than 2 miles from the dealer,its not really my problem, just did not want to bother them if air loss every 7 to 10 days is normal.

To clarify when I do put air in once a month it isn't a whole lot its not leaking all out. When I load up to travel I like everything the way there suppose to be so I top it of and get it on the line.

It isn't a "fix", it is how I test my valve stems for leaking.
How do you test yours?

Really, the air bag shouldn't leak at all.
If you have to add after a week, there is definitely an issue.

Any more the industry is going to "push lock" style air fitting vs the old tried and true nut and ferrell crimp style.
Imo these the push lock fittings are quick easy and inexpensive.
I like using the when I can.

But they also tend to leak more and have more issues then the old style.

If the plastic air line wasn't cut straight or cut with a side cutters the line may have never fully seated in the fitting causing a leak.
Better yet if its a 90 degree swivel fitting the swivel may be leaking.

All this may have been for not but I'm guessing you have push lock fittings and its a good chance you'll find your leak there.

Most air bag company's use these fittings.

Sounds like Schrader valve or bag then.

no have not, just dropped it off at dealer called lippert got a reference number and said check it. since it never held air longer than 10 days since I picked it up last july I figured its not my problem. I was only wondering what others have experienced with air loss on the trail air, do not really care what is causing it as long as its under warranty.

Bob, but WE care, because we're all not under warranty, and it would be nice to know of any weak points in the Trail Air.

well I will let you all know what they find as it appears that lippert thinks it should hold air longer than 10 days or they would not have issued a claim number.
