BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Covers Review

I hope to find out soon.
Bad news. I have a G2 BakFlip on my F250, and SuperGlide hitch. I love it, but when I am towing, I do need to fold the cover all the way up and it covers the back window. No issues driving at all, but the hitch would slide into the cover if I didn't make that final fold. If your hitch doesn't slide, you may be ok.

^^This.

I have the Truxedo that covers my Pullrite. The Truxedo support rails will withstand 1' of snow (deepest I've measured in 5 years) and goes along way to keep the hitch clean and dry; although no cover will keep the hitch clean if you're back roading it on gravel road as all truck boxes are not airtight.

The thing I like about the Truxedo is that it rolls up on itself to about 5", and lies almost completely out of view of the rear view mirror. When rolled up, I have complete use of my box. Even if I have to remove the Truxedo, 2 small spring loaded levers and I pull it out.

Does it provide the highest security? No. But that's not what it's intended for.

I just installed the Retrax Pro this week. It came highly recommended by my buddy that has a shop that installs them.
I'm just starting to look for bed organizers that will fit around the Curt Q20 I also just installed.

What do you guys do for storage in back of pickup?

I'm considering the B&W Patriot hitch and a Retrax Pro bed cover. Anyone know of issues with that combination?

Thanks again. I appreciate all the info here.

Bill
Hi Bill,

Had a standard Retrax with my short bed F350 but when I got the long bed F450 I went to the Retrax Pro. I've had the bakflip which would not allow me to tow with 3 sections folded so Retrax solved my problem.

I use it with the Reese Ultimate hitch and I can lock the bed cover and tailgate. The Retrax will lock open in any position which is helpful when towing and you have stuff under the cover.

Highly recommended.

Yes, thanks.

I didn't mention I have a BakFlip F1 already, because I have sold it and it'll be gone in a few days. I didn't think that was germaine. But I am about settled on Retrax Pro. I emailed B&W and they said either the Patriot OR the Companion would fit under my 20.5" clearance to the top of the cover.

Thanks!!!

I tow with the back 3 sections folded on the front-most section and its great - still covers my tool bin, fuel cans, generator, etc. I looked at roll-ups but don't like soft covers or the price (and loss of box space) with the hard roll-ups.
Good to know

It's a manual slide so I could raise up if/when I need to use the slider?

I ave a B&W Patriot in my 2015 Silverado. I use a Access brand Original Model roll up cover. It is the best cover I have ever used. This is my second one. I also had a Lund cover on one of my trucks. This Access is a way nicer cover. Better fit, better latch. Looks much nicer.

B&W answered.......either one will work with the Retrax. I don't mind the rails, so will probably get the Patriot.

Thanks again.

Their customer service continues after the sale. I've never had a bad experience in contacting them. LOVE my B&W. Beware, soon you'll join the B&W Fanboy Cult.

Remember that with a Retrax you will not be able to add an auxiliary gas tank if you ever want need to. I have the Truxedo Deuce that when closed still allows me access to front (cab end) of the bed without completely unrolling the cover. I find this very handy when loading items into the front of the bed. Also, if you do add an auxiliary gas tank you have easy access for filling it up. Check it out at truxedo.com.

Tono Pro hard panel trifold. Works great with no rails and covers my Pullrite Super Glide hitch, Folds nice and does not cover real window. Panels are aluminum and covered with a very good vinyl. When closed, I have not experience any leaks in heavy rain. Very easy to use.
