I simply bought a cover for the 5er hitch from eTrailer. Never have anything else in the bed and if the truck bed is needed I just pull the hitch. I usually trade trucks every 2 years and next one will have the 8' bed.

I also have truxedo which rolls up and i have the locking tailgate so i have some sense of security if needed, i know they can always cut through it.
i also live on a gravel road and the dust is awful so i did buy the cover for the super glide
just too keep the dust off it and it does a good job
as there is still agreat deal of dust inside the bed under the bed cover

Racer 4 response

Thetonneaucoverstore.com has a pic of the Cargo Manager gate that goes with the Roll n Lock bed cover.

There are MANY similar on Amazon.
Just search: cargo manager tail gate.

Don't have a 5th wheel but I use a BAK Revolver Tunno Cover...It's a roll up aluminum cover that uses locking tracks on the sides instead of velcro. So far it's been great.

Here is the Ram stock Tri fold with a fifth wheel hitch.
What's nice is when the cover is covered in snow you can open the tail gate and access the bed.Click image for larger version
