We have a 2014 32RL and I noticed that the floor of the storage area under the bed is a thin board. Does anyone know if there is anything under that board or if it can be removed to allow more storage? I can see that there is carpet under the board. If there is nothing under the board but the carpeted floor, removing the board would about double the size of the under bed storage area.
On hydraulic slides ... the cylinder, hoses, and hardware to make it all operate are under the storage floor of the bed frame. You won't double the size of storage should you try and use the space because you have to allow for the movement of the bedframe plus the hardware.
hello bbb
we purchased our 2001 about 2 months ago, and have really remodeled it. I questioned the bed also. to me the bed frame was very low compared to my TT. I actually removed the old bed frame and built another. you now only have about 3-4 " of storage, I now have 10 ". I did take out the thin board and replaced it. also I added 1x1 strips along the sides for support. it is so awesome to have extra storage. I am careful on how much weight I put there. fishing poles, and light stuff. I will see if I took pics when I did it. mine is much stronger.
I did toss the idea of just adding a frame to the top of existing frame. would have worked also. we like the added bed height.
Removed the entire plywood base of bed to add an AC outlet under the bed on the "J" box already there to plug in compressor for Sleep Number mattress. Works great.
