FYI. I asked for the upgrade at the Goshen Rally and thanks to George & Denise from Cedar Creek, we really like our new 4 steps. Yes, our 2016 Silverback 33IK we ordered and received this summer came with the 3 steps. We noticed that the 3 to 4 step was one of the changes in the new Silverbacks. Our 2016 just didn't get the new versions during production. We also have one the last Silverbacks with the bear decals.

We purchased a 2015 Wildcat in April of 2014. 15 models were to have the 4 step entry, ours only had 3. Must have been near the 2014 to 2015 change over time. While at the 2014 Goshen Rally we ask for the 4 step entry since it was a 2015 model and that was done the following day, and of course, no charge.

Much easier on these aging knees.

Hey, just FYI: We had similar experience ordering 2014 built as 2015. Brown (mocha) cap oxidized twice. JUST, 2 weeks ago, went to Goshen and had an Oyster Cap with 2016 logos put on. ( plus lots of issues fixed over 2 shop days). DENISE was/is T-RIFFIC!! We used a local factory recommended service center: RCI WAVE; near the fairgrounds....great people and super service.
Highly recommend them for repairs. List completed precisely on time and the commitment to QUALITY repair cannot be over stated. Tnx Anita; Scott and John!!

We liked the 4 steppers when on the level, but we have the 3 step. But there have been times where we have camped and the ground was not so level and our bottom step was very close to the ground. It seems if we had the 4 stepper it would not have room to deploy. Do they drop that much more closer to the ground or do they just shorten up the distance between steps, never really checked that closely to them. Do they drop lower to the ground or is it just optical illusion. If they just shorten up the steps they would really help the wife and her knees..

I think the distance to the ground is maybe 2-3" less. Additionally the distance from the top step to the floor of your living area is also a few inches less. They have worked well for us so far. They must work overall as these are the same steps CC is putting on their mid year Silverbacks. These are rated at 300# and are noticably heavier. There is another company that makes these steps at a bit cheaper price. They are made in America, but they are built a bit lighter. Several replies up I posted a drawing of the steps with overall dimensions. Compare to your 3 steppers.

Hmmmm may be an option for the future. I am liking our step anyways cause I am no light weight. I am down to 280 lbs lol lol.. These seem to be the most heavy weight steps we have ever had. They are very solid, no sag or flexing. Use to be scared to carry anything heavy up our steps on the old SOB, these not so much...

Different models and mfg's do it differently. Some keep the 8" or 9" step height and just let the bottom step drop lower and some reduce the distance between the steps and drop the bottom step a little lower.
