Warranties

We are picking up our new 331k wed Christmas Eve... Yeah... The question is, the dealer we are using is 3 1/2 hrs. away and I was wandering do we have to bring it back to get worked on or can we use local repair shops?

We purchased our rig in PA and live in MA. We have always used a local service provider without any problems. They call and work with CC on any work that was needed. (not much)... This is a stand-alone service provider, not a dealer. Dealers have been known to reply to non-purchased warranty work as second and never get to work on the unit. Or just out-right refuse to do the work.

So if you are going to use someone local, just make sure you ask their policies before you assume you can get the work done there.

Safe travels

As long as a local dealership is willing to service it then yes you can. Some dealerships only work on trailers/mh they gave sold, some will put you at the end of the line behind their customers so it will be awhile before you get service done, others will service in the order they are received. I guess the answer really is it depends. What area are you in as some members here maybe able to help you find a local dealership that will service your rig and is a good dealership as their are bad dealerships out there.

you need to contact CC's warranty dept. for a list of nearby dealers that are willing to do warranty work for rigs they didn't sell.
many dealers will refuse to service rigs that they didn't sell and FR can't do anything about it.
it's not like the Auto industry.

FR will reimburse you, if you have an independent shop do the warranty work.
just get pre-approval from FR.

i know because we bought our HTT from a dealer 2000 miles away. the Rockwood warranty rep gave us contact info for nearby dealers willing to do the warranty work. one didn't even sell any FR products.

I use Camping World, the deal is with C/W if they sell Forest River at that C/W dealer then they can work on your camper under warranty. At my local C/W they do great work.

That is the case for me as well. Our dealer is about three hours away. The only issue I had was when I called FR to inquire about a closer place to go for service. It was like pulling teeth. I asked if they (FR) could do a radius search using my zip code and they told me that they did not have a program on their computer to do that. Long story short, our camping world sells CC so I made an appointment to take it there. I have gotten farther with camping world in five minutes than I had with FR and my dealership in over a month... Literally. Kind of sad. Jerry.
