Water pump continues to run all the time....

We have a 2013 Silverback 29RE while dry camping our water pump has started running all the time and draining the battery.
We shut it off and when we turn it back on it starts running again??

Had that problem. Turns out, water pump went poof. I was out of warranty, but I had it fixed in a small town mom n pop RV place in Utah for less than $200.

JJ only, my cat went to Rainbow Bridge July 2015

Three potential causes: 1) Either the pressure switch that's supposed to turn it off has failed, OR 2) the pump isn't putting out enough pressure so it just keeps running OR 3) potentially the check valve is stuck open and not holding the pressure (this last one would be evidenced by the pump shutting off and immediately restarting).

Most probably, as with DXSMac's problem, is #2 - the pump failing.

Had a similar problem when our pump developed a vacuum block or something. We turned off the pump, opened a faucet and let the pressure bleed off then tried again and it was fine.

A new water pump isn't expensive -- don't pay to fix the old one. I bought one on Amazon for well less than $100. Barring one of the obvious problems listed above, I'd just buy a new pump.

I just replace mine under warranty. The check valve was defective, would run several time about once a minute after you used water. It would eventually shut off.
