Water Softener

Has anyone installed one of the portable water softeners in there unit. And does it actually work with reducing the hard water and stains.

Yes they work. I installed mine a year ago. I purchased the 'On The Go" portable water softener system from Camping World. There are three models. I purchased the Double model. It sits just inside my basement area on the drivers side. I cut two round holes in the metal wall gaining access to the docking area. My water line comes from the outside source and I put a "T" sending one direct to my black water flush( with an inline valve) and the second thru the wall to the softener and from the softened water side back into the docking station connecting to the city inlet. Keeps the water soft and has reduced the spots on the shower doors. Depending on usage I have to recharge the unit about every two months with table salt. (During winter month camping the heated basement prevents freezing). We also keep our storage tank full of softened water when camping/on city water. Of course we drain it down when we hit the road.

I installed a Flow Pur by Watts and it works great. It uses table salt and hooks up easy.

OK, guys, I took you at your word and have one on order cuz the DW made me. If this doesn't work out, it's not my fault .... It arrives next week - these people are very, very quick. Same day shipping and the advertised price is the TOTAL price you pay, no extra S&H tacked on

Thanks for the tip
