What would you doo?????????
Tried to take our 29RE 12 1/2 foot 5're under a 11 foot high underpass......Tore some rubber roof and cleaned the front sky light and broke TV antenna....No damage to structure!!!!!!!
About 1/3 of roof has to be replaced up front.....
Would you recommend replacing whole roof OR front 1/3???? There would be a seam with a metal strip at the joint.....

Sorry to hear about the accident. Are both options covered by insurance? If so, I would go for the full roof replacement. However, I do recommend waiting for feedback from more experienced members.

I am personally not a big fan of half a.. fixes, 1/3 of the roof might cost 2/3 of doing the whole roof and you might have separation along the seams under the dicor which are not visible with the naked eye. It could be a gamble, I don't know.

If it didn't have a seam to start with I wouldn't want one now either.

I should have been more clear: seam along the edge of the roof, vents, AC and so on. When it tore it probably got stretched quite a bit.

I would suggest two things:
A: Get a GPS with width and height warnings.
B: Renew the roof, if it leaks or blows free at the joint, it will cost more to fix it next time, besides ruining your day.

I would see what insurance would pay and if they wouldn't replace correctly. I would try to pay the difference to get a new one.
Nothing worse than being somewhere and the roof leaks. Hope it works out good for u.

I would replace all of it, I believe you will have less problems in the long run.

Not to be Pollyanna, but no structural damage is really fortunate!
May as well do the whole thing, even if insurance only pays part. It will retain resale a bit longer and probably be less likely to have other issues later on.

Very true, but if this ever happened to me, I would find out how much extra it would cost to do the entire roof. 80 percent of the labor is already in the repair, and the extra labor and materials may not be as expensive as you think.
That seam will be a constant headache to keep from leaking.

OUCH ! I would do the WHOLE roof. Was that low clearance marked? I am super aware of low structures after a low bridge encounter near a campground at Mill Run PA. I was a foot to tall and smoked the front brakes on the truck getting it stopped a couple of years ago. Some states have the overpasses marked. Last year I noticed one overpass marked that I was an inch taller. I went up the exit ramp and down the entrance ramp on the other side. If in doubt just get behind a Semi.

Main Street Moncton NB near Botsford Street (old CNR overpass to train station--not there now)....Left Funday Park and crossed bridge over river at Riverview.....should have taken first exit which would have bypassed overpass but took next exit Main Street ......BIG MISTAKE!!!!! Not paying attention...Used to live there as a teen and was talking to BH and !@#$%!!! Good thing I was only creeping!!!! Tore out front vent and broke antenna...Roof has a number of small tears....
