Wireless Rear Camera

Just brought home my 2016 Cedar Creek 38CK. I cannot get the camera and the receiver to 'pair'. I have held the unit right next to the camera (within 2 inches) while I held the camera button down for the two seconds. My next step tomorrow is to see if the camera has power. If it doesn't does anyone know where this wire picks up power?

I think you have to hook the wires together back by the camera, male/female fitting.
Dealer must have paired mine, plugged in the dash mount monitor, worked.

Is this camera and receiver one you purchased or did it come with the Cedar Creek?
What brand of camera/receiver is it?

We actually paired ours yesterday.

The instructions are fairly clear on how to do it.

Parking/driving lights have to be on.

You need to enter the pairing mood on the dash unit and have someone at the camera press the button on the bottom of the camera for 2 seconds. It took us 2 tries but we were successful.

Fellow Chevy/GMC owners, does the camera work with just the daytime headlights or do you need to run with the clearance light on?

Daylight running lights don't power up the rear lights. You will need to have your headlights switched on so that your tail lights and ultimately your trailer lights have power. Then your rearview camera will also be able to draw power from the trailer lights.

I'm toying with the idea of purchasing the Furrion camera for my 2015 Silverback 37BH. Of course the mixed reviews on the Furrion concern me, but I think I'm willing to give it a shot. First and foremost because it is easy since my trailer came with the mount and I should be able to open it up, plug it in and go. In theory of course.

My real question is this...Furrion sells two camera, one for backing up and one for use all the time when traveling down the road. I want to pay the extra money and purchase the one that is for use all the time and not just backing. How certain is everyone that my year and model will be pre wired to have power from the headlights/running lights being on and not just when the tow vehicle is in reverse? I don't want to spend the extra $100 on the one that works all the time to find out at the the camera only gets power when in reverse. I'm not the most handy person and not sure I could do rewiring from reverse lights to headlights/running lights.

I know there are no guarantees on anything, but has the experience been that the power for the camera comes from the running/headlights being on as well?

To All:
First thanks for your many comments. Mine was a factory installed unit by Furrion. I don't know if it is classified as a back up camera or a rear view camera. But the important thing (that I was not told by the dealer), was that the 5th wheel running lights must be on to energize the camera. That is where they pick up the 12 volts. So again thanks to all of you for setting me straight on that. To the others who are contemplating buying one of these, there should not be any difference in a back up camera vs. a rear view camera. It all depends on where the camera is picking up the 12 volts. If you wire it solo to a 12 volt source that is on all the time, the camera will be on all the time. If you wire it to the running lights, the running lights will have to be on for the camera to work. As far as getting a source to only come on when backing up, and since most 5th wheels do not have back up lights, you would have to wire the thing to the tow vehicle.

I tried to pair my camera up and I ran up that ladder about ten times and then I felt stupid when I realized that the camper has to be hooked up to the truck with the running lights on, I felt kind of dumb. There is 2 cameras that Furion sells, the one that came on my camper did not have enough range. I called Furion up and they sent the right camera and now the camera works

Our 38ck came prewired from the factory. Bought the Furion observation camera, not the back up camera. No pairing required factory did that. Using a step ladder, plugged the camera in, snapped the camera into the holder. Plugged trailer into truck, turned on the headlights, turned on the screen, instant picture. I can see whats behind me going forward or backwards. The processor in the "back up" camera is not fast enough to give you a good picture going down the road at 65 mph. If you want that feature, you have to get the more expensive camera. So far the set up works very well.

I think there is a difference. A friend of mine was having trouble with picture cutting in and out going down the highway with his factory installed Furrion. He called Furrion and was told he had the back up camera. They wanted more money to send him the rear view camera that they claimed would work up to 100'.

I have the "observation" camera. Furion explained to me that the difference in the two was signal strength. The rearview model had a weaker signal and work better when at slow speeds such as backing. The observation camera is also plug and play if your unit was pre-wired. I have a constant, no interference signal at highway speeds in the cab of my F250 with the camera mounted on my 29IK. My only complaint is the picture on the monitor has lost its color and appears more sepia with colors washed out. Furion replaced my original unit (both cam and monitor) and the replacement did the same within a week. Great pic just bad colors. I heard they are coming out with a 7" monitor soon. I might wait to see if it is really coming out. I'd like the larger monitor.

Furion sent me the one that has a 100ft range at no cost, it works riding down the road. You can adjust the colors
