2013 Encounter Furnace

We just purchased a new 2013 Encounter 36BH & are working on some of the new motorhome issues. One problem is there is no heat in the bedroom when we turn on the furnace. The dealer told us to turn the furnace on in the front of the coach, which we did, but there is no heat reaching the bedroom. Noticed only one vent in bedroom. Can someone help with this? Surely we're supposed to have heat in the back of the coach. Thanks for your help.

We have just the reverse of you with the 2014 Pursuit. You bake in the rear bedroom and need snowsuits in the front of the unit. Found duct work that was not connected and it still did not help.

Possible solution to "no Heat"

We took our new Encounter to the people who serviced our old Freelander. The tech checked the furnace and said everything checked out ok. He noticed 2 heat vents up front, one in bathroom that gets no heat and one in the bedroom that gets no heat. He suggested we replace the vents with ones that we can open and close to drive more heat where we want it to go. At night we could close the vents up front and open the ones in back. The AC on our Freeland was like this where we could close the AC vents up front and drive more cool air to the back. Could this be a solution to your AC problem as well?

I installed the closable type vent outlets in the two vents in the bed room, a day or two before the dealer said to try that. It helped very little. We have the same type layout. Two floor outlets in the front half. One in the bathroom and two on the bedframe riser.

The furnace is located in the rear corner, and all the heat seems to go to the bedroom outlets. Used a small 110 volt fan to blow heat to the front of the coach.

We have an Encounter. Ours is the 2011 37TZ model.

Leave the thermostat in the bedroom off.
Set your temperature on the thermostat in the hallway.
Our vents, one each, kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom all get some warm air. The kitchen and living room get the most but the bathroom gets quite warm since it's a small room. The bedroom gets only half of the volume coming out of the other vents. This works okay for us though I did put a slight restriction in the vent in the bathroom. If you don't get any air from the bath and bedroom I suspect the ducting is off. Not unusual in a new coach to find things like that.

If you're handy pull out some of the lower kitcheon drawers and look for the duckwork, very easy to find. See if you can get to the disconnected part; also check to see if the duct is bent or crushed by something else.

FYI in our coaches the air conditioning comes directly from the two A/C units in the ceiling to the ceiling vents and has nothing to do with the ductwork for the furnace. You may be interested to know that the A/C ductwork is all connected, front to rear.

I believe the furnace uses a squirrel-cage fan (think of the hamster running in their exercise thingy). That being the case the flow from the plenum is strongest in the center. Try to identify where the feed tube for the bedroom is. If it is towards the end of the plenum switch it closer to the center. If it already is then check for a pinched or crimped line. Also make sure all the lines coming from the plenum are tight on their feed tube. You might want to Gorilla tape the connection to make sure you have no leaks around the connections.
