2016 Freelander 21QB Ford V8

Unless I'm misreading something, I've recently seen several 2016 Freelander 21QBs listed with a Ford V8. I thought the 21QB on a Ford chassis came with a V10. Is Coachmen going to V8s on this model like Winnebago has done with its Minnie Winnie 22R? Is it due to the inability to get the Chevy chassis and to maintain a certain price point? I have to wonder what dinghy towing would be like. Any information or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like it's on the E-350 chassis, and being it's in the 21-22 foot range, probably comes stock with the V-8. Probably won't see the V-10 until you get into the longer chassis on the E-350.
If it were on the E-450 it would be, and come stock with the V-10.

Our 2015 Freelander 22QB has a Ford V-10. We tow, and I think a V-8 would be not enough power.

The 21QB is on the 158" wheelbase E-350 which is a stock Ford configuration. It comes with the 5.4L V-8 standard. The 6.8L 20v V-10 is optional from Ford. The 22QB appears to be a non standard (coach builder modified chassis) at 168". My guess is that Coachmen is using the optional V10 on the longer chassis due to increased GVW. In other words, what Grumpy said.

We have the 5.4l in our 2014 19CB. Plenty of power, but have only towed our 2200lb boat. Did fine.
