Life lesson for ya right here. How can you tell if a saleman is lying? His lips are moving.

We tow 12,000 lbs w/ V10 and get close to 9, but we never go over 55.

Seems I'm getting about 9-10 mpg in the Sunseeker towing my Liberty. That's about what I was getting with my Armada towing the Flagstaff. So, I'm good with it.

And you can make some of that boondocking. We. Joined Passport America. Saves us 50% on camp grounds on their list. Same with military bases. I get on for 18 to 30 bucks for full hookups. Fuel is a part of our trip we are on now but not the biggest part. Gas Buddy will tell you where the cheap stations are. It has helped us save. We're on a round the USA trip now and stretching dollars.
New Prism 24m I am averaging about 16. My best was 18 my worst was 13. The little Mercedes diesel really loves the road.

Our Leprechaun 240 FS , E450 Class C was getting 8 mpg not towing. We now see 10-11 after a 5 Star Tuning reprogramming with a K&N cold air intake. Better up and down shift especially using the tow/haul mode.

If you are really worried about Mileage you need to find another hobby. MPG is what it is some good some bad it averages out

First thing to know about MPG discussions is most of these nice people are fishermen (or fisherperson's). Ever hear about the one that got away?
Second recommendation is to put tape over the MPG display if you have one. Now, go out and have fun, drive slower, and stop obsessing about this.

You must not be in California. We paid $4.29/gal here. Granted we are in the "boonies". Costco is cheaper, but not worth the 45 minute drive there. No Pilot stations around for the Good Sam discount. We laugh when we hear about the National Average for gas. NOT HERE!

But you are right. That should not stop us. What the heck, you only live once, right? Go For It!
Makes me thankful for the 2.25 I'm paying here!

Where did you get this done and how much did it cost you> WIth that mileage gain, it will pay for itself very fast

$498 for 5 Star Tuning programmer with a custom tune for 87 octane tow/hauling. Other Ford tunes are available at no cost and the programmer saves the Ford OEM ecu programming if needed to be re-installed before or after a dealer visit. $382 for the K&N Cold Air Intake system with a much superior rewashable air filter. The transmission shifting improvement is almost as important as the mileage improvement. Several you tube videos are available from 5 Star Tuning customers for review. Based on $3.00 gas in Nevada, the payback would be 12,000 mi, but the drivability and hill climbing should also be considered[emoji41]

Dyno chart shows 42 hp and 55 more lb-ft. It feels like that when I am at sea level and a little less at 4,400 ft in Reno.

The programmer comes with unlimited custom tunes if needed , i.e. Future low restriction performance muffler ( like a Flowmaster Big Block 70 Series) or headers.

Most important is less wear and tear on engine and transmission. More of the mpg gain was from the K&N cold air filter. To a much lesser degree on the 5Star tune. I did my installs incrementally with the K&N filter first and 5Star about 12K miles later. This allowed me to quantify the gains.
