97 Catalina furnace

I just purchased a new(to me) motorhome. It’s got 2 problems. The fan worked great yesterday not it doesn’t work at all. Now When I try to use the furnace I get nothing at all. On the thermostat I can switch the blower from auto to on and I can hear a relay click in the ac unit on the roof. I’ve checked the fuse box and all are good I’m stumped. Also I do not hear the pilot light trying to light or anything . So now I have no fan and still no heat lol

The furnace will not light without the furnace fan running. It is part of the process to light.

As mentioned, you may have low battery voltage or if plugged into shore power, the CONverter may not be working supplying 12v.

Do any other 12v items work correctly?

Have you tested for voltage at the furnace?
Do you own a multimeter and know how to use it to test for voltage?

I got the heat pump fan to work.so now I only have 1 thing that does work. I can start the motorhome and the furnace still doesn’t work. I removed the cover of the thermostat and furnace doesn’t even have a wire going to it??!! I looked up the wiring diagram and it turns out I think I am missing a wire. It has the wire supposedly going to furnace going to hp instead. I switched it still nothing.. where is the wire from the thermostat under furnace suppose to go? I’ll run a wire straight from there to wherever just to see if it works

I'm guessing there is some confusion here with some of the things said.

When the OP originally said the fan wasn't working (while also mentioning the furnace) I believed them to be talking about the FURNACE fan.

I now believe they were referring to the A/C fan that also is used for the heat pump/heat strip option.

Depending on the make/model of your A/C and thermostat, there may not be any wires at the thermostat for the furnace. Some of those systems have a control box located at the A/C unit and the only cable going to the thermostat is a data cable between it and the control box. I'm thinking this may be the case since the confusing mention of the fan.

I could also be totally incorrect.

Oops... yes the furnace fan doesn’t work. At the time of the original post the heat pump/ac fan didn’t work but I got it to work now

Well I took the cover off below fridge. It shows all the wiring in the back of the furnace.. there’s a couple issues. There are 2 separate blue wires that are cut. 1 from a 10 amp 120v switch, and the other from the fan itself. Issue 2 is somebody has cut the small brown wire and spliced into another wire???? Pictures below!

What is the make and model of your furnace? Picture of the ID tag will help. Do you have a copy of the manual?

Sounds like someone messed with the wiring for some unknown reason. The Furnace is 12 volt DC for both the blower and the control board power.

Here’s a picture of the motor which tells the model number. No I do not have a manual for it. I can get the blower to work if I jump 12v to it and I can get the regulator to put gas out if I apply 12v to that. If I switch the thermostats to furnace it doesn’t do anything. Same with air conditioning. I can switch the from auto to on and the hp fan works. Still no heat or air tho

Edit: I threw a new control/igniter??? Board in because it was only $50, didn’t help

The Furnace is stupid. Two wires short together to start it. Often if there is a Heat Pump the Furnace might be interlocked by a relay in the Heat Pump/ AC unit.

Find the two wires going to the furnace short together.

In your second picture There is a two wire with Red and White. I bet this is the wire for the furnace and it broke off somewhere.

This might help you. There's a wiring diagram on page 5.

Check wiring diagram in the PDF I provided.

Find the 6-pin connector at the furnace. Verify you have +12VDC and -12VDC between connections #1 and #4.

If so, jumpering the 2 blue wires at connections #2 and #5 should fire it up, assuming everything else is working.

I see there's also a circuit breaker. Make sure it's not tripped.
